Questions, Nits, Acclaim, and Observations after 1,500 miles

well, i've had my CT5 BW for 2 weeks now. While i agree that the turn signal lever is a bit far from the wheel, and there is a lot of confusing tech in the car, the bottom line is that there are some really wonderful things here. i have owned old and new corvettes, mustangs, cobras, maseratis...

    AFM?

my CT5 manual trans car does not have auto stop/start disable button, so I assume that means no stop/start. I have not seen any evidence of Active fuel management so far with this car in 200 miles. i think a signal would light up in driver info center if it was engaging? sounds like the...

    CT5-V engine surge / "porpoising"

If i can learn how to reproduce the problem, i can use hptuners scan software to log the event. i hope it doesnt happen again, but i expect it will

    CT5-V engine surge / "porpoising"

@Mirza Grebovic Any chance you could connect me with an engineer/tech person at cadillac/GM who might be able to help me with this engine issue? I'm not taking it to the dealer at this point, because there are no engine codes and the problem is very sporadic. i dont want to leave it there for...

    AFM?

the LT4 engine in the camaro ZL1 and i think also the c& Z06 both had active fuel management, i am pretty sure, so i would bet this CT5 blackwing does too. i dont remember seeing it in the owners manual though.,.

    CT5-V engine surge / "porpoising"

yes, the cars have "hill hold" feature. im not sure if i like it or not. i like to keep things simple and real in this case, it is engine rpm surging. when i put in clutch, it is not there. interesting thought though engine surging is something that seems common with computer controlled cars...

    CT5-V engine surge / "porpoising"

No gas tank mostly full both times. Very frustrating

    CT5-V engine surge / "porpoising"

i hooked it up to hptuner software and no engine codes. it thinks it is happy. will have to wait and try to figure things out if it keeps happening, frustrating.

    CT5-V engine surge / "porpoising"

well, it did it again - second time 8 days after the first. both times, was running up a moderate incline in 3rd gear at around 1500-2000 rpm. the engine starts surging - up and down about 200 rpms continuously. if i downshft to second, it continues. if i upshift to 4th, it continues. if i...

    CT5-V engine surge / "porpoising"

no, gas was half full i made sure all the spark plug wires were secure later the same day, cant say any were loose, but it has not done this again since that day. but it has only been 200 miles since then so we will see

i have their scan tool- i'll give it a try

    engine temp

on all of my previous GM performance cars (corvette c6 z06, second gen CTS-V), the engine temp shot up while running at idle or slow traffic to well over 200 because the radiator fans arent programmed to come on until the temp gets higher. with the CT5 blackwing, the engine temp seems to remain...

    Winter Wheels and Tires

i received my nokian tires - i expected them to be made in Finland, like my previous set, but these are made in russia. i had no idea any tires were made in russia, and i have some concerns, but my previous nokian set were absolutely fantastic, so hopefully these will be great in dry and wet...

    Winter Wheels and Tires

i plan to use 275 width tires on all 4 corners on 4 wheels that are all 9.5" in width. i agree that 275 tires would probably not be OK on 11" wide wheels

    Winter Wheels and Tires

Any CT4 blackwing near new york city, you are welcome to come to my house and try out my 18" DR37 wheels and nokian snow tires - to check for fitment. i am selling them at a great price, and 2 of the tires are brand new. i think they are 255/45-18. they fit CTS-V from 2009-2014 perfectly.

    Winter Wheels and Tires

i had nokian Hakkapeliita on my CTS-V 2013 for many years. they were quite good in the dry and really great in snow. i cant imagine a better tire. for the CT5, they make them in a 275/35-19 - which is the standard front size. i plan to use these on all 4 corners, so I can rotate year to...

    CT5-V driving in the rain

for those with "higher mileage" on their CT5 so far, has anyone noticed any issues with rpm surging or bucking while driving? i have a post in the technical section on this. have noticed it twice in the first 100 miles- the second event persisted for 15-30 seconds through multiple gears

    CT5-V engine surge / "porpoising"

no check engine light car doesnt seem to notice it. a quick search of the C7 forums for corvettes shows some complaints about surging perhaps related to active fuel management. not sure

    CT5-V driving in the rain

i had to drive my car in the rain to work this morning. made me sad. on a related side note, it is far easier to break the tires loose in the rain than it was on my '13 V wagon. a little scary. the air temp was in the 40's so i am sure that is part of the problem. looks like i will have...
