This is such a familiar narrative around here. If you can't or wont do basic service at home, you really you need to find an independent shop that you can build a relationship with. There is absolutely zero added benefit of dealer service.
I'm new to CCB so wondering how the pad wear rate compares to traditional iron rotors and performance pads. @nordique14 are you replacing your pads and if so, what are the details (mileage, use, etc.)?
I don't know, a 25 minute production over a "stolen" BW? Feels more like a reality show for clicks to me.
The curb shot on the right rear at the beginning of the security video made me flinch!
My arguments are specifically about the 5BW and selling it privately, not the 23 other cars we've all owned and traded. The fact that the loaded model is listed for more on the retail side sort of proves my point that these options do make a difference, its just that I choose to be the one that...
Well, I guess the idea that I would trade an enthusiast vehicle to some corporate clearing house is where you lose me. Going to Carvana is what you do with an appliance like a Kia Soul where option packages are pennies on the dollar in resale. As someone that bought a unicorn at a discount...
Right, which was the basis of my comment...IF you're buying a BW like the person I was responding to is proposing, used is more financially sound (most of the time). We all get that a BW is irrational form of transportation, but its also amazing!! As far as I know we only go around once and...
I think arguing options don't "add value" is a bit of a faulty premise when it comes to the 5BW. In the larger automotive market, if you start at a bigger base value, the natural economics of the depreciation curve generally means you'll get more in the end, all else being equal. No value was...
Since the OP made the BMW reference...if the BW was made by BMW it would be 20%-30% more expensive to cover your "free" maintenance and rotors. Brake rotors are a consumable in my book, but as others have said find a different dealer and try again.
Well, maybe someone is going to have to ride with some luggage on their lap for a spell, but I fixed it myself and we're out of this road side stressor in 30 minutes instead of 6 hours, or worse, no cell reception (which out here in the west is a LOT of area).
^^^Because he still signs his posts as "Don" even though that is his screen name and we all know its "Don D"? Old habits die hard and evolving is even harder.
I sure hope it wasn't the grand national! I've always felt the GN is a bit analogous to the 5BW in terms of being a low production standout performer of the era and still highly desirable as a collector (even at 30k or so built).
This post hurts all the feels, sorry bud.
As far as the future value, no one here is betting on the 5BW to replace sound investment strategies, but there is no question that even if there are 15k or 20k made, it will always be special and certain spec combos (manual, all the carbons, and cool...
$20k for a classic car isn't going to get you very far, that isn't enough to even buy something reasonably cool.
Agree with others, I would diversify your budget to other areas of the car and keep the engine mods simple (Kong port and call it good). I know I'm at risk of Chicken Little...
I'm just here to argue that the BW is a "kinda special car" every bit as any M. You don't have car nerds around the world praising the 5BW as one of the worlds best driving cars from a brand not necessarily known to have built the worlds best in the last 70 years. Plus you can get a manual...
I think Kong port and LT headers are probably where the biggest gains lie. Many have reported both work with the stock tune. Stock air box is fine unless you really go nuts with heads, cam, etc.
Oooh, the cousin to "which oil is best". 10's of 1,000's of data points (used oil analysis) confirm the OLM is really good. Mine isn't a daily so it's once a year, but for the DD I just follow the manual because that is what most people do and most peoples cars last a really long time.
