I have 8,000 and had to replace them 1 full track day and a bit of spirit back roads riding around a dozen times. Replace with eBay chieapies for now to not damage the rotors. Happy finally no dust!!❤️❤️❤️. Now looking for aggressive trackday pads. The OEMs were good just looking for something...
...the I know about the diff I’ll ask to get it done as well as the brake fluid. For the pads in waiting for ideas . The big day is Feb 9th so far I got the alignment covered, brake fluid, oil changed and diff. Working on brakepads . Thanks everyone for all the good info. I’ll keep posting progress
I think we all need to take pads/brake reviews with a grain of salt. Which track are we talking about, the weather and driver level and style?
I had serious problems with stock pads at Summit Point but no issues at Spring MT. Was it because of the track? Or maybe because I didn’t have enough...
...both for V-Club Academy Events, also a couple V Academy classes. I also track there with the PCA and soon Speed Ventures. I have lots of videos of their tracks. It's a great time. Was actually there 5 days ago on their new course eating up brakepads and chewing up tires.
It's a great...
The clunking with “cycling” is in the front. There is a different clunk in the rear. A new shock on the left rear cured that. Right rear has a very light clunk, waiting for that to get worse before I take it back in. Not sure what to think of the front. As I said, started basically immediately...
The lesson is to track your car more ;) on my 5 I run track alignment all the time and the outsides to wear out first. Went through a lot of tires in 15k not just one when you’re track driving though
I had this happen on my ATS-V and went through a lot of expenses to resolve the problem. I hate Brembo pads and I think the pads are the problem and deposits occur on the rotors causing the vibration. These rotors do not warp, it is the pad deposits that cause the vibration. When I replace my...
Lets add up the clues here: No dash light, brakes work fine, 10k miles on the brakes, and the fluid is below the minimum recommended level. These are high performance brakes and 10k miles is a enough to cause some wear on the pads and the brake reservoir is just doing its job.
As the pads...
Yep, this screenshot is old but I looked up the CCB prices from rock auto with the part numbers.
J57 code is CCBs on a 5 BW
JH6 is for Steel/iron rotor on a 5BW
@CaddyTrack, what car do you have and what brake setup? Is it possible you got the 4BW or the V series pads mixed up?
I don't know what "pico" is.
My 2023 6-speed, while deaccelerating in 6th at highway speeds (but only in 6th) makes a weird noise, kind of like a Jake Brake on a semi, although not nearly as loud. To me it sounds like the car has shut off the injectors and it's just sucking in air while my...
Stock pads on rear? Was car stopping well? Didn't throw off brake by wire system? My front pads lasted 2 track days (intermediate to advanced level), so stock fronts is not an option...
...swapped them in.
Alcantara is probably fine for surfaces that do not regularly come in contact with hands...
As I've heard it told, the brakepads they had back in the day would outgass enough to it was worth drilling holes in the rotors. But decades ago the materials used in pads improved...
...can normally be fixed by shooting compressed air or a water nozzle at the calipers.
The 5BW is capable of over 200mph but Cadillac put brakepads on them that bite like something more appropriate for a luxury car. I am willing to accept a little dust and occasional noise for better braking!
I had opticoat professionally installed on my cayman wheels when I first got it, about 10 years ago. Back then I never did the maintenance on the opticoat, I would use wheel cleaners rather than car soap and a brush. This really beats on the coating. About 2 years into having the coating put...
Also replaced the brake fluid yesterday at the 1,500 mile service. Gave the my out brake fluid . So I guess is monitor the pads. First time might be this Friday for an open track
Thank you Thank you Thank you.
LOL, so finally had time and called the dealer with my VIN and he confirmed I ordered the right ones the first time. What a rollercoaster - see this thread - Steel rotor brake pad replacement
Also, using my brain that has been too fried lately. Rob has all our...
