CT5-V Catalytic Converter and Brake work

If they reduce the brake dust by 50%, it will be well worth the switch.

EPB Clunk After Brake pad/rotor replacement

...its not the new pads rattling in the calipers? How are you able to isolate the sound to the EPB caliper and not the brake calipers? The brake pads are huge and have a lot of mass, so unless you went with OEM Brembo pads, it's likely the tension springs are not engineered as well as the OEM...

Long term reliability of the 5BW LT4 unmodified

Yeah, those OEM brake pads were amazing. When they did finally go, I actually bought the exact same pads from the dealer.

Stock or aftermarket 4BW pads and rotors?

I've been happy with the carbon ceramic Powerstop pads. Z26-1405 (front) & 1053 (rear), $147 for both sets on Amazon. Price is up about $20 now (about 5 weeks later). Virtually no dust, work fine, and silent. If you're just changing the pads, it's the easiest brake job I've ever done since you...

CT5-V Catalytic Converter and Brake work

Do you track the car? Is it the same side cat that is failing? How is it failing (internals breaking apart, clogged, cracked)? I went through multiple cats on my C7 Z06 and C7 ZR1 with track use. They would crack at the welded seam. I wonder if you have some engine issue causing one bank to...

Is there going to be a significant difference running iron rotors vs carbon ceramic rotors with ceramic brake pads? What would be the pros and cons? Is there a carbon ceramic rotor you would recommend?

Struggling to find aftermarket wheels I really like. Am I alone?

I'd like to put together a "group buy" to negotiate a better price on Forgeline wheels. Anybody else interested in them? They are what John Heinricy is using on his CT4 BW. Here's a link to the 2023 runoffs. Other than wheels, tires, brake pads and sway bars, that's a stock car.

I assume the options mentioned above are for the steel rotors. What are the options for CCB? I have not found any brake pads that are specific for the J57 (CCB) rotors other than the GM ones.

Thanks for your insights. I don’t do too much tracking, but do so occasionally. Do you think the DS2500 are good for aggressive street driving with light track use? How’s the brake dust compare to the OEM pads on the 4BW?

    Brake squeal fixes….

You have to remember, copper is no longer allowed in brake pads. And it was right around 2020 or 2021 that it was deemed that manufacturers could not longer use copper. Copper quieted the squeal a bit. I worked for Akebono around that time and our engineers were having a tough time getting...

    CT4-V Brake Vibration

...Dealer of course wants to turn the rotors, but there's no way I have "warped" anything that stout! (Ever. My average for replacing brake pads on any vehicle, since 1976, has been around 80,000 miles.) So... is it that I didn't bed the brakes properly? Or is it, really, not the brakes? I'd...

CT5-V Catalytic Converter and Brake work

Stick with the stock pads. They work great for track and street. I wouldn’t want to risk a pad compound that accelerates wear on the very expensive CCB rotors.

Thanks for sharing. Nice to hear that you also have great experience with the Ferodo DS2500 as a track pad. If it has less brake dust than the OEM ones, then I might just get the Ferodo DS2500. As I mentioned earlier, now I’m stuck between getting the Carbotech 1521s or the Ferodo DS2500.

CT5-V Carbon Ceramic Brakes and Track Durability

It’s all about getting the brake pads hot enough to deposit an even layer of pad material down on the rotor without stopping which would cause a hot spot. Higher speeds means fewer near stops needed to generate the heat. Then you need to drive around without stopping until the brakes cool so...

    Apex Wheels for CT4-V Blackwing

What pads are you changing to? I got anthracite so the dust blends in a little.

Thanks for your insights! I did get some clarity from Marcmac and he’s using iron rotors with Ceramic pads. Might end up doing the same, but will continue to do research and also hear from others within community. Thanks again.

EPB Clunk After Brake pad/rotor replacement

The new tension spring and clips applied more pressure than what was present on the ones i removed. I have applied light brake pressure as you suggested and the noise still occurred when driving over bumps. Which would suggest that something is still moving with the brakes applied. It was very...

...the XP12s seem to be a better fit than Redstuff/OEM. I drive aggressively and plan on tracking a few times a month. I need an all around brake pads that would be sufficient enough for the track, but also enough for aggressive driving in the streets. I found that the XP12s provide that...

Stock or aftermarket 4BW pads and rotors?

That's a huge price difference... it shouldn't be an issue for me to order these and get an independent shop to do the brake job, right?
