    Blackwing Production End Date?

My guess is that they'll continue to build them so long as a) they're profitable and b) they are legally permitted to sell them. I'm sure there are voices in GM management that are saying it's time for a clean pivot to a green/EV brand image for Cadillac but money talks.

    Spring Mountain impressions

You nailed it - unless it's wheel-to-wheel racing at a track day you're not supposed to be trying to beat anyone. Toxic ego example 1: Absolute beginners in high-dollar machinery that can't drive actively refusing to let people pass, trying to race, etc. Not there to learn anything, just to...

    Spring Mountain impressions

AH! My pet peeve. Similar to the experienced Miata driver that's tired of being a moving chicane when they move up to the advanced group, so they drop down to beginner and then start to complain about all the dumbasses in high-end cars holding him up. If it were remotely feasible I'd be in favor...

    Spring Mountain impressions

I can see this being a pretty tough 'first event' for beginners because the limits of the Blackwing are so high. You could either be so timid as to get nowhere near the limits and learn nothing, or too confident and have a really high-speed incident. It's the instructor's job to keep you...

    V academy

I'm in for April 3-4! Stoked to try someone else's manual 5BW on the skidpad and on the track :) This will be my second V-Series Academy visit; the first one was in 2011. Here are some pics from back then I probably took on a Blackberry...

    Mutilated Blackwings (front plates)

Add me to the 'offset looks better' camp - not sure why, maybe it's a subliminal thing with Evos and Giulia Quads. I also like the fact that I can reverse that decision without consequence later on. As for running plateless, my 5BW is a daily driver so I needed a plate to be able to drive it...

    Media dumps

"lacking that final degree of urgency you get from just flexing your wrist a few millimetres" 1. I can't stand darty overly quick racks that are just there to try and make a car feel sportier. Now, I can't say if this is the case with the F90 M5 (because BMW only let me drag one in a straight...

    CT5-V engine surge / "porpoising"

If & when they fix it, it would be amazing if you can get details on what the cause of the issue was and the fix - both for the surging and for the buzzing/rattling. I have both but I'm discouraged from taking mine in because any dealer's SOP is likely to go as follows: 1) ... let's have our...

CT5-V C&D blew up their long term CT5-V BW

Full transparency; the cat is out of the bag so might as well engage instead of let C&D speculate. The failure is worrying, but GM's engagement is reassuring; they've acknowledged the issue in a very public way. If there is a repeatable root cause, bad batch etc. you can bet they are looking...

It does seem like they received a cursed car!

    Media dumps

Interesting - could be worthy of its own thread. I don't recall seeing similar posts here from other owners so hopefully this is a very rare/one-off situation

    Media dumps

BMWs used to be famous for driver-focused interiors. Those simple orange gauges for better night vision, the wrap-around dash, outstanding ergonomics. Now they're just a mishmash of gaudy shapes, textures and colors (don't get me started on the weird hard to read hexagonal rev counter). Maybe...

What made you choose a Blackwing and what else did you consider?

I'm starting to think we Blackwing folks fit some kind of profile - my first car was an NB Miata followed by a Bug-eye WRX

How 'under the radar' is your Blackwing?

You know, that's an interesting point. Around here regular CT4s and CT5s seem to be as much of a unicorn as the Blackwings are. I suppose if there are more of the regular versions of these cars around, it's easier to blend in...

How 'under the radar' is your Blackwing?

Oh sure; I avoided the electric blue for that reason and CF wasn't an option anyway :) In my initial message I was surprised because I'm gray with black wheels and no CF. With no BW badge on the 22's there's not much more that could be done to stealth-ify it

How 'under the radar' is your Blackwing?

Interesting; so far it seems to depend on where you are. Despite stereotypes about Berkeley and SF, the Bay Area has a pretty strong car culture. I'd be kind of curious to hear how it is in LA...

How 'under the radar' is your Blackwing?

I just got done reading the 'de-badge your Blackwing' thread and had a thought/question that I thought deserved its own thread... There's no Blackwing badge (on the 22's at least) and they look quite similar to the regular CT5s (particularly from the rear or the side). A lot of folks (myself...

Ok this requires its own thread - the cabin is TOO QUIET!

I would be in favor of adding harmonic analysis so it only dings straight piped Civics and anything with a VQ engine  Side note; although a sunroof is oft criticized for adding weight (kind of moot in the BW IMO) it's pretty nice to let 'er rip with the sunroof open in a tunnel...

What made you choose a Blackwing and what else did you consider?

I'm not sure if it's surprising or not in retrospect - but boy there seem to be a number of Porsche + Blackwing guys here (myself included!). I'm not sure that the GM marketing guys would have predicted that.
