I just learned about these "AFM Range Disablers" ($250) that you plug into your OBD port and it makes your Blackwing V8 engine stay in the 8 cylinder mode instead of dropping to 4 cylinders when you are in that sweet spot while cruising. The claim is that dropping 4 cylinders is actually not good for your engine longevity. It was only designed to meet EPA requirements to get better fuel results in cars. Has anybody on the Forum installed one of these gadgets and what are your thoughts. I know that your fuel mpg will drop, but not by alot.

I have one, works great.

They are common used in the Corvette world. I don't use one on my Z06 as it rarely engages V4 mode in normal driving.

Do the manuals still have the weak lifters then? I suspect they do.

As far as I’ve read the AFM hardware is still present.

I have looked on line and have yet to find a Blackwing owner posting or on You Tube an owner showing their AFM disabler installed on their BW car. Has ANYONE on this site installed one? What brand have they used. I see on Amazon the prices go from $50 -$250 for one. I have seen Corvette owners talking about using them. Are the engines programmed the same as Corvettes ?
