My new 2026 5BW I noticed the coolant level cold was about a cm or 2 below the fill line. The manual doesn’t really say to check it hot or cold. When hot its about half way higher but still not to the line.

Anyone else have coolant that wasn’t filled all the way from the factory? Hopefully I don’t have it leaking somewhere.

The manual also doesn’t say that’s considered low, but maybe it makes sense to buy dexcool premix to get it exactly to the line.

One more thing, it looks like the coolant is pink through the reservoir, but dexcool is supposed to be orange. So hmm…

Thoughts?

The level is a range between low and full and it sounds like that is where yours is within range. I'm with 1Evil, monitor (when cold) but don't overthink it.

Ok. Thats good to know. What is considered low? If the bottle is empty? I don’t see any other line on it.

I checked my car and read the manual and it turns out there is not a low mark. Rather the manual says check when cool (and on level ground), and if the coolant isn't at the full mark (the tank seam essentially) then add coolant to that mark. Mine was below the mark, added maybe 6-8oz to get to the full mark.

If you look closely on the side of the tank, below the cap, there is an embossed indicator with arrows pointing down to the seam as the level indicator. So, the seam. like you said. :) .

My 3 month old '26 MT is also ~1" below the seam (cold) from the factory. I instructed the dealer to "not touch anything, leaving the protective stickers on, etc." so I'm pretty certain they did not top any fluids off. The level has not changed in 1000 miles - so far so good. Today, figured I'd top it off. Got the "dexcool" from dealer. Did the 50/50 mix with distilled water but the color is very different than what's in the tank. The coolant in the tank is more pinkish and the mix is orange. Holding off until I figured what's in the factory fill...

I'm pretty sure the semi translucent nature of the tank changes the appearance a bit. My Ram is the same way, it looks different in a clear bottle vs the reservoir. You have the right coolant juice, let 'er eat!
