So who has both . Which one would you keep ? Is the double wishbone front good?

I thought my 5bw was more exciting than my 991.2 gt3 manual

Apples to Papayas , I get it but just curious .

you can technically have a 5bw manual and a Z06 for the price of one 992 GT3 ..

I don't care anymore as I have a totally useful vehicle that goes bonkers and then floats like no other. It has four doors? It has a Trunk! It's big and comfy...plus I get 22-23 cruising the hwy? Seriously, I have no need for another car because this one does everything so well?

A bit out of my comfort zone on finances but dang that would be one bad ass mini-collection.

Here’s a 5BW manual at VIR vs a 991 GT3. I own a 992.1 Carrera T manual and have to say I absolutely love both cars.

What's the little track logo underneath the steering angle graphic? Mine shows a helmet on PDR

Great question. I believe the one on the right is for Track mode and the one to the left of it is which PTM mode. I’d have to test though. I was most likely in Track mode PTM Sport.

that seems like it, but I was under the impression that if you are in PTM modes, it defaults to track mode anyways. Were you in Track Mode before switching to PTM?

I’ve had two full months with my 2024 Boxster GTS 4.0 with PDK. Not a GT3, I know, but it shares Porsche’s flat-plane 4.0-liter six — just in a slightly detuned form. The Boxster replaced my 2021 C8 Stingray HTC.

When compared to my 5BW manual, the Boxster feels quick and nimble. It’s got surprising torque for being down 268 horsepower, and the PDK does an outstanding job of keeping the engine right in its power band. It definitely outshines the DCT in the C8.

What I love about the Blackwing is that it can be luxurious and polite when you want it to be, yet rowdy as hell when you jump on it. It handles remarkably well for a four-door sedan — obviously not as nimble as the Porsche, but still impressive for a car its size.

Visually, the Blackwing always looks sexy to me, especially with the carbon fiber packages. The Boxster, on the other hand, looks a little awkward with the top up. Drop the top and it definitely improves, but I still don’t get that same wow factor I do from the Cadillac.

I genuinely enjoy both cars, and the driving experience in each is completely different. Both deliver tremendous bang for the buck in their own unique ways.

I’d be interested to hear a comparison of handling between the Porsche and a BW4.

Well I’ve had a 997.1, 997.2, 991.1 and a 991.2. All C4S and manuals. I have a 4BW right now, manual. First to go is a 991.1, the first year electric steering sucks. Then the 997.1 as sooner or later it’s going to bore score and ruin the engine. The 991.2 was good but too refined actually. So the 997.2 was great, less chance of bore scoring with the 9A1 engine and the last with hydraulic steering. Far has handling the BW holds up well to the 911 for the most part. But a 911 with RAS and PDCC will out handle the BW. That being said I’ve been tempted to get a 992 C4S with PDK, RAS and sports package. I’ve found a few 2020s low mileage certified ones. The economy and tariffs are hitting Porsche hard, as I’m getting calls from multiple dealers offering me allocations at MSRP that I’ve never done business with. Others send me lists of their inventory and call me. So if you’ve never had a 911, get one, keep it maintained and you won’t lose money. Stay away from the 997.1 though.
