CT5-V What don't you like about your CT5-V Blackwing?

All to say this car freaking rocks overall. One auto rev-match downshift with exhaust in track mode turns a mediocre day into a great one.

(Sooo… if I may say: manually rev matching, to me, is an integral part of the manual driving experience. Total engagement!)

I would like to replace my starter button with one that’s actually metal (aluminium?). I also wish the steering wheel was wrapped with higher-quality leather. To really compete against ze Germans, these touchpoints need to be better.
Is there a metal aftermarket starter button available?

i'm sure they have some kind of aftermarket stuff maybe ebay?

I leave auto rev matching off during "spirited" driving as I depress the brake pedal far enough for smooth heel/toe action but during all other driving scenarios I've grown to enjoy the auto feature for effortless downshifts. This is the first manual car I've owned that has this feature and I was a sceptic but I really enjoy it .

I agree about that with heel/toe driving, but I love manually rev matching even when downshifting without braking. It’s like constant practice to see how perfectly I can nail it.

I like to heel/toe as well, but I find the automatic rev-matching to be much more accurate than my estimation of where the RPM's need to be during a downshift. Usually, I'm off by a little, but it is SPOT on every time.

The one thing I HATE about this car is the dinky ass gas tank.

• I need to fuel up like every 2-3 days, which is infuriating...
• The car gets the same mileage as an Escalade, but with a 17 gallon tank instead of the Escalade's 24 gallon tank.
• Our gas tank is only 1 gallon larger than a Toyota Camry's tank!
• Caddy needs to give it a 20+ gallon tank.
• Or at least offer the option for an 'Extended Range Fuel Tank' like on the Porsche 911.
• On the 911 that option adds 7 gallons to its fuel capacity! That's only 42 lbs. of extra weight it is lugging around.

That being said, at least the gas gauge in the Blackwing is accurate. My 2004 CTS-V had one of those uniquely American 'simulated good fuel economy' gas gauges, where it stays toward full for most of the tank, then goes from 1/2 tank to empty in 50 miles. At 1/4 tank you had like 25 miles of range. I ran out of gas once lol...

And I'm with the guys who say the TURNING RADIUS sucks. It sucks. You can't even get around a gas station pump without having to do a 3-point turn. The Escalade ESV has a smaller turning radius!!!! Not kidding, I looked it up. Just FYI, the Smart FourTwo has a turning radius roughly HALF of the Blackwing.

Apparently it's 42.4 feet. My wife's '13 Mercedes C-class sedan's is 35.3 feet. So 7 feet shorter, that's like an entire parking spot width.

Funny enough, it seems even worse - there are certain streets where I can do a U-turn into a parallel spot on the other side with absolute ease in the Merc (don't have to be precise at all), but it barely brings me perpendicular to the curb in the Caddy.

Believe it or not, the Civic Type R I had before was 39.5 feet but felt pretty much the same as the Blackwing. But extra annoying for such a small car relatively.

Turning radius.

Was here trying to think of something besides MPG (which is actually impressive if you can manage to stay out of the loud pedal... i.e. great road trip car), but you're right the turning radius sucks. Presumably the wide tires and suspension geometry required to accomodate them are the culprit.

Agree, annoying but definitely on purpose. When I have a ct5 (non-Blackwing) loaner, the turning radius is much tighter.

I like to say it's to avoid us flipping them when turning at high speeds

Got one more, the telescoping feature does not come out towards the driver enough. For me it's just barely acceptable, but would prefer a bit more.

I saw a few years ago that a guy left his Blackwing with a valet parker and the valet tried to pull away from the curb to make a u-turn before the next oncoming car arrived. I guess he thought that the car would make the turn and he was wrong. The Blackwing got t-boned and totalled.

yup,, in RED! I used 5 spurs before with my mustang and they are GREAT to work with with top quality products

So, I just heard back from 5spurs. They're asking "can the button housing be removed from the dash easily?"

I'm away from my 'wing at the moment, and don't have the mechanical wherewithal to test, so can anyone here confirm if our starter button housing is easy to remove?

Two steps between nav and audio when using CarPlay.
In my wife’s Mazda, when you press the “music” button you immediately go to SiriusXM, or whatever you were listening to, and when you press “nav”, immediately back to Waze (or whatever nav up you use).

After a couple of years and almost 9000 miles on my 5 still same complaints 1- fuel tank lack of capacity 2- wireless phone charger location SUCKS, phone constantly slides back into shifter boot well or on the floor with any minor show of acceleration 3- no sunglasses holder.

1 - agreed. 2- cant say this has happened. Maybe a grippier case back might help keep it in place. 3 - as in they don't fit in the center console or glove box or you desire a special place just for your glasses?

Just a thought. I bought the new iPhone and got a new case as well. This one grips much better. You could try a new case, it would probably help.
