FWIW the c8z rotors do NOT have a friction layer, but blackwings do. The friction layer should cause them to last 2-3x as long all other things being equal. The new zr1x brake system uses the coating and GM stated in testing the pads laste 5x as long as c8z.
FWIW the ct5 as well as zr1x use CCB with a friction layer coating on them. This causes them to last significantly longer on the track. Rebrake offers it as a service to add this layer but it’s not cheap. About the same price as jus buying new OEM ct5 rotors from an online GM dealer
I know with the new ZR1X CCB system they claim the pads last 5x as long as the system used on the Z06. I wonder how much of that is pad material/tech and if they decided to update the material to the same on the blackwing? It would be awesome if they somehow lasted 5x as long at only 2x the...
the front ducts are there on all models installed. on the front you change out the large brake dust shield for a smaller one that is included in the bag that just protects the balljoints from heat. if you dont have CF1 you also need to remove the front tire deflectors which are held on by torx...
^this. The mounts are different for the front calipers as the CCB rotors are larger, but the front calipers are the same minus the graphic that says carbon ceramic on it. Rears are completely different.
the kit is adding air scoops on the rear, which are just 3 bolts, switching out the front rotor shields for smaller ones that only protect the balljoints, and also just flat out removing the rear shields. I left mine in this config for street driving and have been fine. I don't drive on gravel...
At spring mountain they said during testing in the blackwing if you are under high G load for a very long time that the sump will in fact run dry. The higher viscosity isn't about keeping the oil level in the pan, as a thicker oil is going to slosh sideways just about as easily under sustained g...
fee use to be a lot less, then SM stepped their game and hired a legit chef to run the food. that is why they moved the fee up. they have a lot more than 5 of each car, but they can't use all the cars all the time in case one breaks or needs work. With the vettes they actually buy the cars. With...
i've run without the shields multiple years just fine. the smaller fronts protect the balljoints still. one event i had shields on and the pads wore out faster and i got an overheat message. never gotten the overheat with the shields off. be sure to remove the front tire deflectors if you have...
Brembo, who makes the ccb rotors for the blackwing are the ones that stated life expectancy on track is similar. CCB wear when subjected to heat and the fibers burn up. If not subjected not big heat they’ll last forever. That’s why they would go the life of the car if not tracking. If they have...
The ccb rotors have the same life expectancy on track as the iron. Per GM there is zero braking performance difference on track. The advantage is lower unsprung weight. You’ll likely be switching back to the irons. You can pay someone to clean the wheels an enormous number of times to equal the...
