Drop CF and maybe get a 2022 - or hold on and wait probably until fall or later?

I'll have the same issue most likely. I'm number one and waiting for an allocation. I can do without CF1 and 2 packages, slightly to expensive in my opinion but what I really want is the natural interior thats only available with CF seats.

I also want Infrared but that occasionally comes up on constraint as well. If an allocation arrives and I can't get the interior I want or the paint it will be a sad day. I'll either place an order for a barebones car and call it a day or wait, but being in Canada means the allocations are few and I don't want to wait another year or more.

I may submit the order for a barebones vehicle then go back on the list, wait 2 years or so and get the one I actually wanted later while driving this one.

Obviously I'd love if constraints weren't a thing when my allocation comes up, most likely for a '23 I'd assume at this point. If I get no constraints I think I'd go all in for CF1 + 2 as well as the ceramic brakes just because the chance may not appear again and just load the car up.

Time will tell.

I heard the 170ish lbs of down force was generated at 180 miles per hour? If that's true then the expensive CF package is really just for looks and bragging rights
that was part of my reasoning as well. Plus I saw a car owned by a member here - without CF - and it still looks awesome!

I understand (from my dealer) that you can get the CF backed seats even without the exterior bits? Apparently the CF backed seats are not constrained - anyone know? Also, are we limited only to black and tan with CF backs, or can we get them with SC Gray? Maybe @Mirza Grebovic can educate us?

my dealer apparently can get an allocation w/CF seats as long as I drop the exterior CF...so going with that

I got my allocation on March 10th and back then CF backed seats were on constraint. Maybe lifted now?

I found a BW 5, It's Black on Black with CF and the only thing is, it's an automatic. Buyer dropped out at the last minute, and it's already shipped and should be at the dealer in a day or two. I'm waiting to get the Window Sticker to see what's in it. It came available today and I'll post what this 5 has.

All CF, including seat backs are at constraint.

I was in the same situation, I decided to drop CF1 & CF2, car got accepted the next week. I had been waiting since June. tpw 3/28, If I feel the need to get the Carbon Fiber I'll order a 2023 or 2024 if still making them and trade mine in. I just want the car.
Cadillac actually said you could order the carbon fiber after its delivered.

I believe the article in question said GM would provide carbon fiber for Blackwings that needed replacements due to damage.

That being said, I think its terrible business to punish customers trying to give you money because you couldn't provide the product they originally wanted, whether its GM's fault or not. While businesses never cease to amaze me with how stupid they can be, I wouldn't be shocked if GM won't at least take such requests into consideration on a case by case basis. If someone ordered a Blackwing during constraint and want to pay for carbon later once its more widely available I don't see how that is hurting anyone.

So here's my dilemma. My dealer said if I dropped CF1 and CF2, I may jump to the top of the queue (hey, that rhymed - maybe there's a song here, LOL). Curious as to reactions from the members - what would you do? PS - I don't plan to track the car much if at all, so the aero benefits of the CF are secondary to the looks, for me anyway.
Maybe you shouldn't have said that...:)
@Powerhungry Drop CF... buy CF later or place second order and keep your carbon order alive.... why? while I could never predict the market, theres a good chance by the time your cf unit shows up, you could trade in and break even on the first one or maybe even make a few bucks..... assuming you are paying MSRP

@shbox exactly this....

GM will provide parts to those who own a Blackwing who's VIN included the parts when built.... Warranty issues or things like accidents...

I would recommend you look at it from a different perspective... They are taking care of the existing customer....Any successful business will make an existing customer a priority over a potential customer (vehicle on order) .... Imagine a Blackwing customer getting into an accident and GM saying "sorry, other guy wanted parts for his car, so you're gonna have to wait 12 months before you can get your car fixed or buy a non carbon piece to put on your car".. They are literally potentially losing entire vehicle sales, giving up profits, to make sure their existing customers are taken care of.....

They wont take into consideration turning their back on an existing customer. No one is being punished.

You will be able to buy carbon parts, later on , when its not on constraint...
- Priority 1 - Existing Blackwing owners who have a vehicle with carbon from the factory, who need a replacement
- Priority 2 - New car orders
- Priority 3 - Parts/Accessory orders.

You can technically order it... it will sit there for a year, likely as it will not get filled without a spac case...... so see prior post for more details.....
