For all you other track day / HPDE junkies driving these pigs around, welcome to the season. The weather was amazing this weekend at Road Atlanta.

Have a great season... hope you saved up your pennies for tires and brakes. :-)

I've done a few things over the winter and am really looking forward to seeing what it all feels like. I should see 155mph this year.

I plan on hitting 7 different tracks this year. All on the west coast. Except for Spring Mountain, I have been to all of them before but 5 of them will be new to me in a BW.

what brake pads are you using?

for my iron rotors, ChatGPT suggested Hawk DTC-60 (front HB667G.622 and rear HB665G.577), but the retailers don't think they fit the CT5vBW

i just intend to install them for track days, so i'm not worried about dust, but don't want to accelerate the wear of the rotors.

I'll flush the brake fluid as well.

Aren't you guys wanting Carbon Ceramic Brakes for your tracking days and the lack of brake dust for all days?

Stock. I haven't had ANY problems with the brakes so far, and I have inspected everything after each HPDE when I swap back to my street wheels/tires.

On the contrary, when I bought my car, it had a pretty bad shudder in what I think was the rear rotors. After my first track weekend with the car, I assume I cooked off the deposits and the brakes are now very smooth. I come down the hill at turn 10a at Road Atlanta no less than 140, and it's very stable braking.

All of that said, if I could swap to a CCB setup, I would. The weight savings and the dusting would make it worth it to me. The only thing holding me back is MY unknown about the interaction with the traction control, ABS, etc etc systems on the car. I would hate to find out the hard way on the track at track speeds that something isn't compatible ...

There's a guy on here who has put aftermarket CCB on his 5BW and he's been reporting they've been working fine. I've ordered them for my 4BW.

The primary reason to go with CCB isn't about better braking. It's taking 15lbs off each front and 10 lbs off each rear rotor to achieve better handling. The increased braking capability and no dust are secondary benefits.

The CCB do not dust on the street but there is a decent layer of brake dust on the wheels after a track day.

My first couple of track days, I left the front tire deflectors on. They need to be removed to help with cooling the brakes. No other cooling modifications needed for the 5BW CCB on track.

I would not have gotten the CCB except that it came as part of the precision package. Glad I have them but not looking forward to the cost of future rotor replacement. Lack of pad choice is also an issue. Stock GM pads are the only ones I have found.

At AMP (Atlanta Motorsport Park), I experienced significant brake fade after about 45 minutes of intense lapping. Along with changing the brake fluid, I wanted to change the stock pads for my next HPDE event. Just wondering what anyone tried…

I’ll repeat this question during the upcoming Tech Talk about HPDE events.

I'm using Porterfield AP 2444 and like them. I had developed a mild shudder in the front presumably from the usual deposits. I changed to the Porterfields and stood on the brakes a couple of times, which cleaned the rotor up and they've been issue free ever since.

"45 minutes of intense lapping" sounds like you needs to move to CCB
