4BW Rear Differential Fluid

If you just drain it - it's less than 1.5. If you suck the fluid out - it will take more.

It should be about 1.3. I don't know why you would suck it out, but it would probably be less. Draining it is easier than changing the oil.

if someone post pictures or a video of Rear diff fluid change, would be apprecaited. I am considering to change it on my 2024 CT4BW (5000 miles). Any suggestions on tools to pump the new oil? or just use the go with AMSOIL / Squeeze package?

Attempt to remove the fill plug on top first. If it is stuck and you need more time / effort to do it that's fine. You haven't dumped any oil yet. If you remove the drain plug you are stuck until you can get that fill plug out. After that drain everything out you possibly can with whatever suction device you have, replace the drain plug and fill until it starts coming out. As others have said it is simpler than an engine oil change.

Just bought ACDelco 10-4131 (GM 19418501) from RockAuto for $36.79/qt and $9.99 shipping for 2qts. Best total cost I could find.

I used one of those fluid transfer pumps to fill it. Changed mine at 9000 miles.

Found this one on YouTube that's short and to the point. It's an ATS but should be the same process. Since my car is already on jack stands and just hit 3k miles I was unaware most people were doing this after break-in I'll add it to the list.

Link to the siphon he uses.

I dont think most people do it after breakin. It depends on how you use the car. Track driving, sure that would be a good idea. I replaced it at 20k on my atsv and it looked completely fine. Not planning to replace it before whatever the manual calls for in my 4bw.

I did mine at 6K. It was still nice and clean. Pretty simple to change. Remove fill plug, then remove drain plug. Put drain plug in and start filling. I think it took 1.5 qts or so. FWIW, I didn't even lift the car. Just slid under and did it. Still need to lose 30lbs but I still managed to get it pretty easily.
