I was actually thinking about an Optiq-V as a third car but no Apple Carplay is a deal breaker. If Cadillac thinks their OS is worth $20-$40 per month, then provide consumers both and see if they think it is worth it. I suspect they know the answer which is why they are removing Carplay support. This will be a boom for the people who make the phone holders that fit in the cupholders as everyone will be going back to that!

Mike, greetings! What are you considering now for 3rd car?
Who knows! Looking at a bunch of possibilities. The new Audi SQ5, BMW X3 M50 (ugly but great seats) and the new M-B E-Series sedan. Having back issues and may not be able to drive the manual much so looking for something that is REAL comfortable on the back. But am in no big hurry.

If they deliver on that, no one should miss CarPlay.

CarPlay kinda sucks anyhow, if people are honest.

Hasn't been my experience with CarPlay. It's worked better than all the others, Android auto and the manufacturer's systems.

My personal phone is an android & my work is an iPhone, so I've tried both. I think carplay is way worse. The newest update with widgets is nice though. Generally though, AA just works so much better.

Unless they have something comparable or better which does not seem likely.
They are doing google built in which is way better than having to mirror your phone with Apple Carplay or Android Auto. It works seemlessly with the car, you can download additional apps, and there are never connection issues like can be experienced with the phone. I prefer Google built in over Apple Carplay and Android Auto. If I am using a music app like Amazon Music as an example, it starts immediately. it feels like it is the radio vs a delay with streaming from their phone.

The vehicles comes included with 3 years of Super Cruise, Safety & Security and Wi-Fi. You also get 5 years of the data used for the Google built-in. Reach out to me and we can talk about it. I am not trying to get a sale. I think you will be very impressed with Google built-in. Then you can buy the Optiq-V with your local dealer. I can answer any question you have

Apple wants more access to the vehicle and customer information. Basically, Apple wants Apple CarPlay to be able to control the car. Not everyone knows this is happening or understands what it means for the auto manufacturers. If car manufacturers asked to have similar access to Apple, Apple would say "No Way." GM cares a lot about their data security in their vehicles. It is a slippery slope to give someone else control.

It is the same idea as micro-transactions in a mobile game. Once you get them to do one $1 item, your foot is in the door. Once a user breaks the "first-time buyer" barrier, they are significantly more likely to make repeat purchases.

"We can already do these things in your car, you should lets us control it too. It is better for the customer..." - Apple
