Would you sell a ‘24 Nissan GT-R T Spec in Millenium Jade for a fully loaded ‘25 5BW manual?

I know this is a BW forum, so there’ll be bias. Just want to hear some thoughts. Anyone have experience with both cars that can chime in? Don’t get me wrong, I love the GTR, it’s legendary final year model AWD rocket in a special trim and limited color. However, something about a supercharged RWD V8 manual with modern tech is compelling though. I don’t really need the extra seats or doors. I have an IS500 and FL5 as well.

The person who was on the waitlist for the GTR before me backed out and went for a 5BW instead, so I guess these are cross-shopped.

Tough question - from a financial standpoint there’s a pretty interesting comparison on expected value over the coming years. The Nissan will probably only go up in value (depending on transaction price) whereas the 5BW may take a while longer.

Tech wise I think the GT-R will feel pretty dated in comparison. Answer for me would depend on how much I was going to drive it and how long I planned to keep it.

Absolutely yes!! I will take a slower manual car any day over a faster car with a slushbox.

Yes.

As you said, it is an "AWD Rocket".

Before I bought my manual CT5-V Blackwing, I owned a loaded, 2022 M4 Competition xDrive. Also an AWD rocket. C&D ran it to 60 in 2.8 seconds if I recall. Not sure how that compares to the Nissan. The interior, in full Tartufo leather, was an absolute knockout. But man, was it ever devoid of character on the road. So sterile. I suspect the Nissan has to be better. But either way, you just cannot compare it to a RWD, supercharged V8 6MT car for driving "enjoyment". Mine is an extra car, solely purchased for my enjoyment. I definitely got the right one for me. I'm sure for other people's tastes, the Nissan or M4 might be "the one".

I simply wish you the best in getting yours, regardless of which machine it is. It is very cool to be content and not have a need to chase anything else!

I also had a brand new M3 last year before my blackwing. It was not that exciting to drive, and I've seen videos and read articles about people trading their GTR in because they were just like driving a computer that does everything for you, though they are very fast.

The GTR will get more attention, but the blackwing is probably more fun to drive.

My brother has a 24 T-spec and just added the Escalade V. I don't think he will ever get rid of the GTR.

I'd keep the GTR and dump the IS500 and/or the FL5 for the 5BW!
thiss OP.

I wish I kept mine at the time but now every time I see one I reminisce.

Can't beat a v8 manual driving experience

Well damnit, I'm considering selling my V2 and the M3 Comp Xdrive was one of the cars I was looking at (about $18k+ less than a 5V BW) but I was worried the lack of torque would kill some of the fun factor. Fast but boring is pointless IMO since it's my daily driver 365 and I want to enjoy the drive like I do now, just newer. The current BW colors don't do it for me so I might just keep my V2. Was REALLY hoping they'd bring the Black Diamond TriCoat back for 26 but sadly, no.

My buddy has a GT-R and he's not parting with it and I am not parting with my 5BW? They are very different and we're different too. I am most comfortable in my comfortable 5BW with a big ass soda in small ass cupholder. He's into dialing in the percentages of power to each wheel and having just a HELLISH KIDNEY BUSTING DRIVE? Maybe on a track? But we're city rats so I would rather be soaking up that crap in my 4door!

Love 4doors!

I would, but I've never been a JDM person. However I would absolutely sell the FL5 and the IS500 and buy a 5VBW over selling the GTR if you can. It doesn't make any sense to have a Blackwing and an FL5 and an IS500, both cars should provide a good downpayment on a 5V Blackwing to allow you to swing it and keep the GTR.

15 years ago a GTR was cool, these days its outdated and overpriced. Really overpriced actually these days, but still very limited and special. Everything is AWD automatic.

A 5V Blackwing manual is in my opinion much cooler but a GTR still has its place if your a lifelong JDM fan, I just personally can't justify it.

If anything just sell it and buy an older GTR if you like GTRs and save a little bit of money and also buy a 5V Blackwing if you want both if you don't want to sell the IS500 or FL5. There really is no reason to own a modern GTR over one from 2012 and pocket the difference.

My buddy is a JDM fan, he likes these cars, I appreciate the manual sports cars out of America but even he thinks modern GTR pricing is just ridiculous the last 6 years. You can buy a C8 Z06 for less and with a NA flat plane crank V8 that revs to almost 9k and its a mid engine sports car.

In my opinion you don't buy a GTR or keep one because it makes sense on paper, these days it doesn't make sense. You buy one because you are a JDM fan and love what they represented, not because they are actually good value (they aren't).

I owned one of the first M3 Comp Xdrives, great vehicle. Yes, its a bit numb but its also just so good. It does everything right, build quality and materials are excellent, tech is good, power is good, fuel economy is good. It does nothing wrong except for the fact its an automatic AWD vehicle in the current climate, which is very normal but its still so superb.

It was my first experience with a German vehicle and I almost sold my C7Z for a manual M3 as well because the quality was just so good.

I almost had the Xdrive M3 as my winter car and a manual M3 as my summer car.

Also, my boy has shown me detailed pictures of what he's done to his GTR....It takes 2qty Valve bodies if I remember correctly? The engine has been dolled up with massive Heat exchanger etc. Wow not saying that's you but holy crap what scary mess of bolts that car is! Even his windshield replacement is insane! Ordering pieces from Japan the molding etc. the windshield ends up being thousands....no thanks!

You have to decide what you're looking for in a car. I had the opportunity to drive a GTR on the track years ago. I was really looking forward to it, but after the drive I thought, "I have no desire to own one." While fun, it was bland, soulless. Later that day I drove a Ferrari (I don't remember which model) on the track. I'm sure the Ferrari was slower than the GTR but it was so much more fun, in my opinion.

Comparing the two cars you asked about, I think that the 5BW with the manual, V8, RWD, etc. is just more interesting and engaging. I'd get bored in the GTR, whereas I laugh out loud frequently in the 5BW.

Yes, this is a Blackwing forum and I am biased or I wouldn't be here. Nevertheless..... My vote: Get the 5BW.
