GREENVILLE, S.C., July 30, 2015 — Michelin today announced that it will provide specifically tuned MICHELIN® Pilot® Super Sport tires as the exclusive fitment for the next-generation 2016 Cadillac CTS-V. Working closely with the Cadillac CTS-V team and drawing upon its innovative technologies and experience in endurance racing, Michelin engineers developed specially constructed MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport tires that significantly enhance the world-class sports-car technology and performance offered by Cadillac V-Series.

Michelin’s most innovative ultra-high performance technology, including the latest advances in the tread compound, have been adapted to provide improved wet and dry grip and will also provide CTS-V owners a long tread life without sacrificing performance.

Featuring an aggressive steel belt package previously reserved for Michelin racing tires, the MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport tire’s tread depth is tuned to balance everyday street wear and also provide the ultimate grip required for extreme race track performance. The three different Michelin rubber compounds are engineered and precisely located across the tire’s tread surface to optimize tread life.

“The MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport that we jointly developed for the Cadillac CTS-V strengthens the strategic engineering initiative between our companies to provide the highest-possible performance experience to Cadillac drivers,” said Thom Roach, vice president of original equipment marketing for Michelin North America. “Similar to our exclusive fitment on the first-ever Cadillac ATS-V, CTS-V owners will enjoy a smoother ride, improved dry handling, excellent performance in the rain, low noise and long tread life.”

Designed and manufactured in the United States, the Michelin and Cadillac research and development teams held joint test sessions globally for the CTS-V at Michelin’s Laurens Proving Grounds in South Carolina, General Motors’ Milford Road Course, Nurburgring Nordschleife in Germany, Road Atlanta and Virginia International Raceway. The Cadillac CTS-V will be fitted with 265/35ZR19 on the front and 295/30ZR19 on the rear.

Dedicated to the improvement of sustainable mobility, Michelin designs, manufactures and sells tires for every type of vehicle, including airplanes, automobiles, bicycles, earthmovers, farm equipment, heavy-duty trucks and motorcycles. The company also publishes travel guides, hotel and restaurant guides, maps and road atlases. Headquartered in Greenville, S.C., Michelin North America (www.michelinman.com) employs more than 22,750 and operates 20 major manufacturing in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
