Noticed a squeaking coming from the unit above the rearview while on my way down to Parumph a few weeks back. The squeaking stops if I put my hand on it.

You guys think this is something I can/should take it in to the dealership for, or something I should just fix myself?

For me, the time consumed, and potential for unintended casualties, driver abuse, and related makes nearly every issue that comes up DIY.

Rattles and squeaks are one of the most difficult things for a dealer to handle. It’s a “soft” issue and there must be some $ limit/hours limit after which they just give up. I’ve have varying experiences. Good experience at Audi dealer, but Mercedes dealer was useless and a waste of time. On one drive the tech admitted his hearing wasn’t good. WTF! Ended up finding and fixing that one myself.

But since you localized your problem it may not be that difficult to fix.

Mine was doing that and I just manhandled it a bit, left/right/up/down, and it stopped doing it. Been a couple thousand miles now.

Probably will start again on my ride home today now that I wrote this.

it seems like a simple fix. I’ll just remove the unit, put some foam along the edges and put it back on. I’m only concerned that it’ll affect the warranty if it doesn’t work or it gets worse and I have to take it in.

I hadn’t thought of doing that. I’m pretty easy on my baby man. I might give that a shot though before pulling the whole unit off.
