Have a 5BW thats park in winter being in MN. Have a ridgeline for winter duty. Kid going to be turning 15 and will take over ridgeline. Thought time to think of a new car for me. Something that I can drive all year long. Need some space to haul other kid to sports. But something decent engaging. Found a type r at msrp but didn’t pull trigger. Would put snows on it. Like the idea of slow depreciation and reliability. Thought of ITS but seems to depreciate faster but would be nice in winter. Also its and type r will overlap with 5bw when warm. But also thought maybe I should check something very different and look at leasing a Ioniq 6n when it comes out. Thoughts?

Same, kinda. Looking at a truck for towing, house/yard stuff. 4x4. I've read so much on current trucks. It might be depressing. Sat in a few.
Looking at Cayman since I apparently need a 2-door...sat in a few.
The 2026 M2 has 2-doors.

How about a NIssan for you? The newest SUV, is it the Armada?
WOW that Ionic 6n looks wild.

Was looking for real long time (years) at the Type R - what color was that one? I'm still in a slippery slope on those, being a Honda man, If I could get one in black, at/under msrp, I might have'ta. PNW all the stealers are ADM nut-cases. I like all the colors but I'm old so kinda have to hide behind the colors on that R. White or, black. Would push the BW to second car status because I could rip on the R daily/year round and care less.

I drove the brutally sweet BW today, wowie! It is my second car (no short grocery trips) but it's now in the climate controlled garage until somebody makes winter tires.

I loved my GRcorolla for winter...A bit boring in Summer due to AWD, but winter is pure fun. It was small inside so ran a cargo-box. I owned a Golf R before that, Golf R is great for HWY, but boring in corners. GR is more fun.

Also have a Jeep 392, put a sway bar on, handles like a car and has the best sounding V8 on any new vehicle. Only automatic vehicle I have ever loved, but I got it when they released under 80k with XR package I think I paid around 78K, I think they are close to that again? Since Jeep Sales are down, you can get a deal, but sway bar is needed if using on road IMVHO.

Of these choices I think ITS is your best bet. Similar to the Type R but better daily whereas Type R is the better track car at cost of some comfort. Personal opinion but I think ITS looks better too. I previously owned a 2018 Focus RS and that car was a riot in the winter. Good practicality, great in the snow and reliable. Fuel economy was not great if that’s a factor. I got about 23mpg on average, normal driving. If you are looking for an engaging car I think you will be disappointed with any EV. If you are interested in Hyundai consider the Elantra N. Similar to ITS and R but more affordable, not as much performance but probably fun to drive and 6 spd.

It was a blue one. For some reason I stick with blue on my fun cars but I’m open to any color on type r except red. Found some in Midwest for msrp. Think winter and economy slowing things down. The blue one locally sat at dealer for coupled days at msrp so I think it is slowing down a bit? Who knows.

Yah if I get type r it feels like BW will be driven less in summer. I got it to feel connected to driving a very driver specific car. Seems like a waste to not drive it when I would just zip around with type r but the bw power does blow my mind every time I step on it.

Thought maybe awd in winter with something sporty. BMW seem so digital. My wife has an x5 and I just got a loaner x3 and that suv made me cringe with amt of plastic inside. Literally felt like a mid tier car competitive with Honda rather than luxury cars.

We are located in "farm" land. We tow horse trailers, enclosed trailers and load quads since my son races them. We absolutely have to have a truck so it's my go-to vehicle when I can't drive the other toys.

I’m in the exact same boat, with a Boxster S also in winter storage. I used to run an RS4 in winter, which was a blast, but sold it as maintenance costs were rising and some parts getting harder to find.
I like ITS, but can’t get blue with red interior, and I’d like a little more backseat leg room.
I test drove ID Buzz after they offered $26k off list, and liked it more than expected, but resale will likely sink faster than Titanic.
As an older gent now, I like a compliant ride, and was impressed by the cruising ability of a Crown Signia.
Tempted by a Model Y, but don’t want to support the boss.
Really like Ioniq 5, but based on quality horror stories and after visiting the dealership don’t think I can ever buy a Hyundai (same for Genesis).

Slim pickings these day it seems.

Only lease on Hyundai Ioniq. Their depreciation is brutal. They do have that small battery dying issue but hopefully the newer models address that. They mentioned they will only bring a limited amt of 6n to states but maybe because it’s not the prettiest car, they will sit on lots like the 5N later on and can steal a decent lease.

I did really enjoy the seats in the type r but my body might enjoy the its seats a lot more with heat in winter. Ha, joys of getting older.

I still daily an RS4 in winter but we added a used 25 X3 M50 (turbo in line 6) for our kid and I have to say in sport mode the M50 makes for a great winter ride with good tech and features as well as rear seat and cargo space. Worth a quick test drive. I do agree about the plastic inside but the ride makes up for it and day/night compared to regular X3.

A good friend of mine recently bought a regular Ionic and there is a lot to be said for it. Still....you being in Minnesota...I wouldn't think an EV is your best choice for winter.

I'd recommend something like a Porsche Macan, Jaguar F-Pace or Alpha Stevio...all of which are reportedly great driving - very sporty SUVs. Not sure if the Alpha or Jag are still being sold new anymore....but heh - if its for winter use maybe used makes sense and saves you some $ as well.

Though I just wasted a Macan GTS in my GTI a few weeks back (twice and then he decided to pull up behind me and not next to me....lol)...so maybe they aren't so fast...donnoh...
