Hey everyone! So I've been eyeing carbon fiber hoods for my gen2 for a while now. I love the aggressive look, and I know there's some weight savings involved (I've heard anywhere from 20-40 lbs depending on the brand), but here's my dilemma...
I'm about 95% street driving, maybe hit the track once or twice a year if I'm lucky. The weight savings would be nice, but realistically, am I going to feel a 30-pound difference in a 4,200 lb car during my daily commute and occasional spirited backroad runs? Part of me thinks I'm just trying to justify it because it looks badass.
I'm also a bit concerned about heat management. I know the factory hood has that heat extractor for a reason, and I want to make sure whatever CF hood I get actually functions and doesn't just look pretty. The supercharger already runs hot enough as it is. Anyways is it worth getting a CF hood?
