There's been enough cases reported that GM should have a procedure for this. When I took my car in 9 months ago, they were already starting with the TB first.
I can only speak to the issue I - and several others - here have had. Both the the throttle body and turbos are noting by the forum and GM as possible sources. Some folks have had one replaced to fix the issue, but most have both done before it got corrected.
In my case, it seems I probably...
It was never the throttle body for me. The TB was replaced and nothing changed, so the diagnosis went to the turbos.
Yes, there is a chance that new TB they added is the cause of this new noise, but given my experience, I would first look at the turbos again.
Your statement that getting bad...
It's a bummer. The issues take the fun out of having the car, but i am hopeful it can get sorted.
If not, then I'll consider moving on, but it's a shame because I do really want to like the car!
I already got a new throttle body (OEM). One turbo was replaced, so I suspect the other one is going. I have driven the car a few times since, and the noise is intermittent (of course), which wasn't the case last time....
With spring, I'll drive the car more and see what can be done. The dealer...
So with a break in the constant rain, I took the car out this morning (first time out in the car for a little while), and the issue has reemerged.
The last fix last ~2500kms and the whole car is less than a year old and only has ~5500 kms (3400 miles) on it.
I had an appointment for a recall...
A while...I think they had the car for a total of 5 or 6 days over 3 trips. And parts needed to be ordered.
This being said, this was last summer so there probably wasn't the knowledge base within GM that exists now. Hopefully they can get you in and out efficiently.
There are two issues, apparently. The throttle body is one and the turbos are other. My dealer addressed both problem areas.
It is still heavily warrantied. I would take it in and get it resolved, but as far as I was told by the dealership, there isn't any imminent risk.
You can remove the black plastic shroud on the positive jump terminal. It's just two plastic clips. With that off, you can put a tender on and then close the hood.
I traded my 997.2 manual in for my CT4BW (6sp); I owned it for 4 years. I concur with a lot of the opinions in this thread. I am also a very similar demographic (40, 1 kid, a few cars in the fleet).
I really loved my 911, but the cost of upkeep was getting to be a bit much. Also, for the...
Hi all,
Sorry about resurrecting an old thread, but has anyone uncovered anything more about this issue?
I have had this happen a few times in my car (2024 4BW Manual) - always in first gear at low speed with no rev match enabled. It typically happens when I am crawling in first gear (like...
For me, I was told it was the turbo itself. I was also told it was just a nuisance noise, but it was annoying enough in stop and go traffic that I was eager to have it fixed on my new car.
Given we have had enough reports of it, I would suggest that GM now knows about and should be able to...
I would say it's either the throttle body or the turbos. For whatever reason, this seems to have creep up early on a lot of these 24s. I wonder if there was a manufacturing defect on the turbos.
Wastegate rattle? Mine developed a bit of an off 'turbo-like' noise that I think is tied to the simulated noise that's piped in for the louder settings, because when I turn the engine noise setting down it goes away.
And it is possible the noise comes back (defective parts fail, especially if there is a design issue), but I am fairly certain the turbo was the culprit in my case (upstream cause notwithstanding).
