Did the first oil change at 500 miles over the weekend. Apparently Thor works are the assembly plant and put on the oil filter, but I eventually got it off with some gentle convincing.. I also put a Fumoto valve on it so the next oil change should be quick and clean and hopefully not take over...
Got them from ZL1 addons. I ended up not using all of their spaces to get it sitting nice and flush. It wasn't really all that difficult just had to try a couple of different combinations of screws. I didn't take the wheel off, but it would have been easier.
I see both sides of it. It's obviously annoying and potentially frustrating for those who cannot easily upgrade, but on the flip side if they are pushing fixes that are critical to the car then they have to find some way to enforce it. They better communicate like crazy though, the policy change...
Wasn't necessarily today, but over the last couple of weeks I parted with my "Yellowwing" and picked up "Greenwing". Both 4BWs. My first was a great car I just fell in love with this color combo and wanted some different options - PDR mainly with a sunroof delete. So far I've only swapped the...
I always read my manuals, usually when I'm in the "the office" in the morning. Even on my basic Tacoma I found a couple of cool features I probably wouldn't have stumbled upon.
I somewhat agree with you on the manual itch, at least for my daily, but we’re coming to a point where it won’t be an option anymore and I wanted to throw support to a manufacturer willing to still put a stick shift in a car. The Blackwings are a last hoorah for this type of car.
I have a 4BW and a ZL1. Granted the ZL1 and 5BW are different in a lot of ways, they do share the same powertrain. The LT4 is one hell of an engine as it has power almost everywhere. The exhaust note (especially with a manual transmission) is really something as well. If I didn't have the ZL1 I...
Turn the car on without starting the engine - on my manual it’s just pressing the start button for 5 seconds. Then adjust the mode to your quiet setting, push the clutch / brake and start her up. It just makes the startup process a bit longer. The valves open up when the car turns off as a...
This is my third manual GM vehicle with the rev match and being "gentle" without doing the neutral wiggle is the best way. Also let the RPMs come down a bit. In my ZL1 I end up turning off the rev match when I know it's going to misbehave, but the rev match button is the paddle shifter so it's a...
After reading all of the "it's loud on the outside" comments, I had my wife drive my 4BW semi-aggressively and it does make a pretty damn good sound on the outside with the exhaust on the loudest setting. The pops on the overrun sound really nice as well. It sounds good enough for me for my...
Did anybody else’s come with these extra tabs? I’m assuming I need to pop out the lens to wrap it around properly, but wanted to make sure.
Edit: these are the Lamin-X ones
Found a cyber yellow 4BW 6sp in transit to a dealership in NY a few weeks ago and put my deposit down right away. Took delivery on Sunday after being transported home to NC.
