CT5-V Retrofitting carbon ceramic brakes to 5BW?

I had my bronze wheels ceramic coated when I took them off last fall to swap to my cold-weather all-season wheels and tires. Just put the bronze wheels back on two nights ago. Drove the car 70ish miles yesterday (commuting, nothing especially sporting) and the dust is very noticeable. I know...

CT5-V Retrofitting carbon ceramic brakes to 5BW?

That would be great to have that info.. although it seems like it will likely be prohibitively expensive, I'd still like to know what's involved. What would really be awesome is if the C7 Z06 CCBs were a bolt-on option as it would open up a lot more potential avenues of purchase.

CT5-V Retrofitting carbon ceramic brakes to 5BW?

And apparently I should have searched more than just scrolling back through a page or two as there was a thread on this with posts as recent as last month. Retrofit carbon ceramic brakes? There are links to part numbers for rotors in that thread. Assuming they are correct, they are 85575887...

CT5-V Retrofitting carbon ceramic brakes to 5BW?

Considering the difference in unsprung weight with the lightweight rotors, that does sound conceivable. I wonder if the damping would be firmer or softer with the CCBs.

CT5-V Retrofitting carbon ceramic brakes to 5BW?

Has anyone retrofitted the CCBs to their factory-installed iron brakes on a 5BW? Does anyone know the part numbers for the pads, rotors, and calipers so I could look up pricing information? I thought I didn't want the CCBs until I bought a C7 Z06 with CCBs and now I'm sad that I don't have...

    TC/Stabilitrak overly intrusive

IMO, there is no such setting that provides the "right amount" of stupid. Race2, which is what I drive around in when I hit the V button, still only lets you get a little bit sideways before the nannies kick in. Not enough "stupid". If you press and hold the twin-squiggly-line button for...

CT5-V Changing location of ZL1 Addons lift pads to allow for Quickjack usage?

That's probably good advice, which I didn't get until after I'd installed the lift pads. I put the 5BW up on the Quickjack overnight and it seems to be fine. Pics forthcoming.

CT5-V Changing location of ZL1 Addons lift pads to allow for Quickjack usage?

I originally bought the stealth lift pads (by accident) and then ordered the regular lift pads. The only difference between the two, as far as I could tell, as that the regular pads stick down about a centimeter further so you don't have to look as hard to see them under the car. The stealth...

CT5-V Changing location of ZL1 Addons lift pads to allow for Quickjack usage?

I finally bit on buying some ZL1 Addons lift pads for my 5BW. When getting ready to install, I realized that there's a plastic piece at the default lift location that will be under the inner edge of the lift pads that I'll need to cut out in order for the pads to sit flush against the metal on...

    Manual Transmission in cold temps

I haven't touched the trans fluid in my 5BW, which has ~3K miles on it, but I just changed the trans fluid in my new-to-me 2017 C7 Z06, which has 18K on it. I used four quarts of Redline D4 as is typically recommended by the Corvette community. Cold performance is better--previously, when I...

    CT5-V Engine failure

These engine failures make me a little apprehensive about modding my 5BW and voiding its warranty. I'll probably do a couple more track days this year and if it survives unscathed, figure it's probably solid and let the mod bug get underway with a few bolt-ons. I changed the oil on my 5BW at...

    Opinions on PPF options

I did full XPEL PPF on my 5BW. Definitely did not want to deal with rock chips. Cost nearly $7K, and that was semi-rural Illinois pricing. The closest metropolitan shops wanted close to $10K. I didn't PPF my low-mile '02 911 when I bought it several years ago. It was only $2K for the...

CT5-V How to remove trunk liner to access battery to install battery tender leads?

There are four pushpins along the edge of the panel at the left side of the trunk. The pushpins are an absolute bear to get out, as far as pushpins go--I used a standard pry tool but all it did was bend the little metal tabs that the pushpins went into. I dug out my plier-style pushpin removal...

CT5-V How to remove trunk liner to access battery to install battery tender leads?

The last time I parked my 5BW for a month, I used alligator clips on the two big leads under the hood, so I get that it can be done that way. But I prefer having a permanently-installed little dongle that I can easily plug a battery tender into. And I'd rather have pigtail coming out from the...

CT5-V How to remove trunk liner to access battery to install battery tender leads?

I plan to install a battery tender in my 5BW. The negative terminal is easily accessible; the positive terminal is under a cover that can't be removed unless the trunk liner is removed. Before I start removing push-pins and yanking on things, I figured I'd ask if there was a how-to for...

    CT5-V ZL1 1LE transmission in 5BW? Or, how the 5BW is a 7-speed missing 6th gear.

The wild drop in RPM between 5th and 6th gear is irritating. Redline in 5th gear is ~162mph; upshifting to 6th drops the RPM to around 4500 and completely kills acceleration. The drop in RPM from 5th to 6th is so huge, the transmission feels like a 7-speed, where 6th gear is missing. To be...

    Spring Mountain- Track insurance?

I originally skipped the track insurance but since my 5BW is owned by my LLC and the trip was paid for by the LLC and the LLC would be on the hook for damages I might cause to SM's 5BW, I let my business partner talk me into getting the insurance. There was nothing even remotely resembling a...

I see a lot of people not liking the sunroof option

This is true. I'm 6'4" and with a helmet on, I have to recline my seat a bit more than I normally would in order for me to fit with a helmet. And I think it compromises back seat headroom somewhat, too. That said, I do enjoy the sunroof for normal street driving.

    Spring mountain- experienced racers?

If you're an experienced track driver, you probably aren't going to learn anything substantial from the Spring Mountain school. I did it in December, and while I enjoyed the experience and improved my lines somewhat, it definitely wasn't a revelation, and I'm not as experienced as you are...

    Steel rotor brake pad replacement

This link includes Porterfield R4-S pads, which sound promising for street use, but are only available for the rear. KNSBrakes | Products | <!-- -->2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing - Iron Discs Bummer. I am waiting for Dynamic Friction to come out with its Active Performance and Track Day pad...
