That looks like the carbon from the exhaust system. There may be a hole in the exhaust pipe somewhere and it is leaking water vapor onto your gas tank and leaving that black soot.

If the reflectors are the same as the CT5, you can pop them out by reaching up under the bumper cover. Do it when the exhaust is cold or you will get burned. There are 3 clips on each reflector. Start with the clip that is closest to the middle of the bumper and the rest come right out...

I can't see the expense of paying for real carbon fiber that you are constantly worried about damaging and then spending additional money to replace. I went with the very cost effective carbon fiber wrap at appropriate locations and people think its the real deal.

This is exactly why I refused to get real carbon fiber parts and just had them wrapped. Looks like the real thing at a great price......and I don't have to worry about the cost to replace or repair carbon fiber.
