How is the CT5V BW in mundane driving?

I had mine from 2009-2015, drove it 29k miles and sold it to a friend for $5k+ more than I paid (it was in much better shape than when I bought it though). While I absolutely loved the E39 M5 and it was amazing for the time (and still looks wonderful), in comparison to the 5BW: Engine has a...

How is the CT5V BW in mundane driving?

Even though it's a comfy, somewhat heavy luxury sedan, it really is pretty engaging in "boring" driving. The engine sound, torque and character, the crisp shifter and clutch, the communicative steering, the variable drive modes - they all add to the experience. I've almost always had a sedan + a...

Cadillac Smart Driver and Privacy Concerns

Sorry if already mentioned, but if you are affected by this and live in California, go to consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com. as a CA resident you can easily submit a request to have your info deleted and fully opt out of selling personal information.

I've also been successful negotiating the $6/mo deal via chat.

    Quirks of my 5BW

I've also had the horn honking when I close the trunk. I'm pretty sure it's the honk to notify that you left the key in the car, and it's going off because you're close enough with the key that it thinks you're inside. Pretty annoying as it's damn loud in the garage. Another minor glitch in...

GM Press Release: Introducing the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing

Same. It took me a good week or two for my eyes to adjust to the camera mirror, but now they can instantly refocus. And the trunk release I realized just takes a slower movement than I was doing (more a wave than a kick).

    R33 GTR as 4BW companion?

I kind of agree. I had a 2002 for 3.5 years (bought in 2013 w/47k miles for $13k, needed nothing!) and added 23k miles including tracking and dailying. I might get some grief for this, but out of the 7 cars I've owned now, even though I'd love another S2000 I have to say it was my least...

    2025 CT4V Blackwing?

Forget decades, we may have 0 options like these in two to three YEARS. They're already some of the very last ones, and the 5BW is the last manual V8 sedan.

    Media dumps

Hard to believe a C-class is 190.6" long and 4,749lbs(!!), ~600lbs more than a 5BW! At a starting price of ~$100k and thinking of the immense complexity and boost running through that 4-cylinder, I can't imagine buying one, especially in the longer term past warranty.

    New blipshift shirt

I'm wearing the other one! Went to the dealer for oil change #2 today and finally sat in a 4BW. I have to say, the back seat was acceptable for my 5'11" frame behind my own driving position, and the dimensions felt nice and tidy vs. my 5BW. I kinda really want to try one.

Just ordered a shirt! Okay, two. And a poster.

What did you all drive back in the day?

Not a fan of most new BMWs, but I'm curious to know why? I had an AP1 also; curious why you liked the 1 so much more than the AP2? Difference in redline, suspension tuning, something else?

    Personalized license plate

Hah, I just got mine after 8.5 months (about the time it takes to bring a human baby to term). Goes along with my Lotus Elise's FLYW8 - different cars, different strengths.

    Media dumps

Totally agree with all of this. Jason Cammisa gets an auto-click. Thomas and James are fantastic. Savagegeese also great in a different way. Other than Chris Harris, not much else.

Norcal factory order with little or no ADM?

Agreed. Funny enough, I placed an order with Sewell in December 2021 and with South San Francisco I think a couple months later. Got my Sewell car January 2023 and still waiting on the SSF one...

Anyone know how many 2023 CT4BWs and CT5Bws were produced ?

That could perhaps be grounds for false advertising, as judging by '22 production numbers they make closer to ~1,000/year, so Barrett-Jackson claimed it's rarer than it is (if anyone should know about the value of rarity, it's them). Also, funny that I have the 2023 86/322, so the car that came...

GM Press Release: Introducing the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing

I had liked early spy shots of the nose, but up close and especially from the sides, the headlights are very vertical - almost reminds me of a GMC truck/SUV. Agree the black lines on the BW bumper are a bit weird and unnecessary. Same with the screen - I had generally liked it and it definitely...

    CT5-V Blackwing front bumper clearance

I have 8K miles daily mine with the standard lip and have zero scrapes. I've scraped the underbody panel, yes, but not the lip. Go slow and at an angle on steep drives and it's not that bad. The front overhang is pretty short, which helps.

    Spring Mountain Impressions

That's one thing that rang so true at the end of this video: Yesterday I dropped a couple of gears to pass a dawdling left-lane Prius and - whoops - there's 103mph before I even passed him. Satisfying yet also a bit alarming. Formerly my favorite car I had owned, which I wanted to emulate in...
