How long do you wait after starting the car to move it off?

First start of the day I wait for the idle to drop, maybe 30-60 seconds. In the summer and spring my warm up consists of 10 minutes of driving under half throttle under 4k rpm. I don’t really use 2nd gear until the trans warms up but if I do use 2nd I’m usually shifting when the circle around...

    Pops out of 1st gear

Ugh…The only reason it would pop out of gear in that situation is if your foot wasn’t fully down on the clutch or you tried using your pinky finger to push it in gear. Maybe you’re not pushing the shifter in hard enough. If you force it in and it grinds or pops out then eventually you’ll need...

    Potential new owner

Welcome to the forum. I grew up in the northwest suburbs for most of my life so whenever someone is in Chicago on the forum I notice. I moved out to CA otherwise I’d happily meet up with you. Anyway, try PM’ing @1Evil55 I believe he’s somewhere in the area. Also, you could change the...

    Break in 6MT fluid change

I noticed this post and it’s an interesting read. Although I haven’t researched this technique fully I would consider it. Again, it’s a risky proposition for warranty work. Post in thread 'Manual Transmission in cold temps' Manual Transmission in cold temps

    Break in 6MT fluid change

I can tell you from experience and speaking to others on the forum in dealing with Transmission issues at a Cadillac dealership, GM corp gets involved more than I expected. In some cases GM has come onsite and disassembled the transmission to determine root cause and damage. If they went...

    Break in 6MT fluid change

Welcome and congrats! IMO, The service recommendations are for light use non track driving. It’s almost as if they didn’t factor in how the Blackwings are being used. From what I’ve read on the forums about those who have flushed their trans early they didn’t see any contamination with the...

    CT4-V CT4-V BW vs Camaro ZL1 vs C8 Z51

For a Daily Driver/Canyon Carver I think a Blackwing would be perfect. Ultimately a 5BW in manual would be a better matchup for this comparison but If you only had one car amongst these 3 I’d still choose a 4BW in manual. The 4BW has the right amount of power ride quality and practicality...

    2023 CT5 Blackwing engine failure

Sounds like you got no loaner yet, if so, I’d call Cadillac customer service back Monday and insist you speak to someone if your assigned customer care rep isn’t responsive. They should have the authority to force the dealers hand or provide reimbursement. It’s on their website under warranty...

    “New” Car with 155 Miles

I would agree with that statement. I would be even more concerned with a manager/owner taking it home on the weekends.

    “New” Car with 155 Miles

I bought a new car with 140 mi on it, my wife’s Cx9. It was a dealer trade from down south they drove up north. It worked out for us, we got a great deal on it but I had issues with it having an aftermarket alarm dealer add on from the previous dealer. The wiring harness was hacked into in...

    Manual trans owners--both 4 and 5

My take is that press cars are driven hard and put away wet. You want to get clicks and views you better entertain the public. Auto Journalists have no reason to drive these cars as if they were their own. In many cases they don’t have a lot of time with the car either. They beat on them...

Updated 5BW OE Brake Pads for J6H = Steel

Yep, this screenshot is old but I looked up the CCB prices from rock auto with the part numbers. J57 code is CCBs on a 5 BW JH6 is for Steel/iron rotor on a 5BW @CaddyTrack, what car do you have and what brake setup? Is it possible you got the 4BW or the V series pads mixed up?

    Manual trans owners--both 4 and 5

This is unbelievable and I’m so sorry I know what your going through; I’d be nauseous just seeing my car go through this much and I would not be comfortable keeping it even if it seems they repaired it. Based on the service history they don’t have enough grip on situation to fully repair it...

    Opinions on PPF options

When I shopped for PPF, I went to a STEK installer who had been around for years. They said they were switching to this new PPF company because it was a superior product. Another guy that worked there said that STEK had been authorizing too many small shops with low overhead and it wasn’t...

    CT5-V Blackwing Extended Warranty Pricing

I'm curious if anyone knows if these aftermarket warranties offer overlapping coverage alongside the factory warranty period? For those who prefer warranty work at an Indy shop in lieu of the dealership?

Would you recommend this as a "family Corvette"?

You should look into some covers for the back of the suede seats when you go forward facing. My kids love to scrape the dirt off their shoes on the back seat. I thought I didn’t need them for my wife’s car but it ended up looking pretty bad so I bought an extra set. https://a.co/d/114hWCk...

Would you recommend this as a "family Corvette"?

The 5BW is my DD, I had 2 graco full size car seats in mine at one point now I have a full size britax Frontier booster. I think a 4 would be a little tight IMO but it’s doable. The space is there in the 4 but it’s much less leg room and shoulder room. The 5 is the perfect size sedan without...
