    Fluid alternatives for notchy shifting?

How do you see trans temp? OMG, my Corvettes had that. What a pain. Fortunately, easily rectified with a bypass resistor. LOL, thank you for that. I concur. So, anyway... many years ago, I bought an old BMW with destroyed synchros in most of the gears, and my mechanic suggested adding...

    Winter Storage

The video doesn't work for me (I'm at work, and our filters block a lot of stuff). So I went to the manufacturer's web site and this is what I found: Any water in the gas tank mixes with the ISO-HEET® brand, preventing the water from freezing in winter. ISO-HEET® brand also removes water and...

    Winter Storage

I'll add to this discussion that my FIL was often full of crap, so I doubted most of what he said. :beer

    Winter Storage

OK, I didn't know that. However, to stay on my pedantic horse, I'll suggest that it does not remove the water (if it did, where does it go?) but rather, it lowers the freezing point. Which is what antifreeze does in your cooling system too.

    Winter Storage

I know this isn't one "those" forums, and I certainly don't want to get into any kind of pissing match here, but science says that adding fresh gas to a tank of old gas will not magically remove the water. That would require a chemical reaction that simply does not happen. If you can prove me...

    We can't have nice things...

I'm sure dealerships get accused of damaging cars all of the time, and sometimes they are not at fault. So I can see how they might push back. My local BMW dealer will walk-around the car when you bring it in. My FIL had a 3 series that he'd bring in, and every time they would take pictures...

    For your amusement

Huh. I forgot about AA. I haven't used it, but it may be worth a try. Thanks!

    For your amusement

In his/her defense, as a long-time BMW owner myself (but not badge-obsessed) I bought the M4 instead of the BW simply because I was able to actually obtain the BMW at a discount off of MSRP. When the BW first came out, it was impossible to even get a reply to an inquiry, much less order or buy...

    Collision Avoidance

I have a 2023 so things may be different, but I am able to totally disable both the automatic braking and the flashing red lights warning. I do get a warning every time I start the car that the collision avoidance is disabled, but that's fine. I am what some may refer to as an "aggressive"...

    Winter Storage

I wondered that myself. I've always heard that you should top it off, remove as much air as possible (less condensation). I still stand by the ethanol-free idea, that stuff will gum up and could cause fuel pump and/or injector issues. LOL, what a great idea! Will this work on Squirrels too...

    Winter Storage

I really feel sorry for you folks who can't drive your car for half the year. I get to drive mine year-round. If it does snow, I just stay home. There are those rubber thingies that you can park on that will presumably minimize the flat spotting. The ethanol-free gas is a great idea, it's a...

    From G80 M3 to a CT4-V Blackwing

You're welcome. I kept expanding (geographically) my search until I found a car that I wanted. In my case, I'm in NC, the car was in MI. That's about a 12 hour drive, not counting pee stops, food stops, gas stops, so I had it shipped. I was looking for zero options at MSRP, although I could...

    From G80 M3 to a CT4-V Blackwing

I put a link in my post, but I guess it wasn't visible. Thanks for that, @rubber. You're up early. I guess it's true what they say about the early duck.

    From G80 M3 to a CT4-V Blackwing

Somewhere on this forum you'll find a thread that I started, asking former BMW drivers their thoughts on the BW. That helped push me over the edge. I went from a manual G82 to the CT5 (with the correct number of pedals). Not a single regret. OK, one. The BMW allows you to read and respond...

Blackwing 👑 | Help me, help you, get into a Blackwing sooner! Reply with your Build/Design codes!

LOL, he also missed the apostrophe on "its up to you". Its/it's is very difficult for many people, so I gave him a pass on that one.

    CT5-V Shopping: So discouraging!

LOL, I know he's just yanking my chain, like I did to him. No worries. However... he (@stunna) should not be capitalizing all of those words. You know, that's technically not spelling, but I know he'd want to know. Heck, he's from Texas, we should be happy that he can type at all. ;)

    Thoughts on this 4BW Deal

That sounds like a pretty decent (better than average) discount. I suggest asking them to give you that $1600 instead of the ceramic package. You'll quickly find out that it's really worth about $125. RR is a great color too. And you snowbelt fellas (and gals) I really feel sorry for you...

Installed some sound insulation this weekend

I get that, it's a trade-off when adding insulation to make the car feel/sound like an old Brougham rather than a 21st century high performance car. I agree that the road surface makes a huge impact on the noise, as do the tires. These high traction (and I do love their performance) Michelin...

Installed some sound insulation this weekend

I also polished and waxed the car, but no one needs to see a picture of a shiny black car to prove it. ;) One of the few complaints I have about this car is the amount of road noise. To save weight (I presume) Caddy has left off sound insulation in large portions of the car, and it seems...

    Just got her

Sweet! Isn't PPF & ceramic both kind of like wearing two condoms?
