Site Update: Official Cadillac CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing Registry

Rob - This vehicle is headed to CoPart as a total loss, so I'm guessing it should come off the registry. Thanks.

Michigan is unusual. It has a strong no-fault law that provides a very generous first-party medical benefit. Part of the trade off for that generosity is that their law bars recovery for pain and suffering unless it is a serious injury. My bruises won't clear that hurdle, so I don't have any...

I think it is a fairly normal policy from Cincinnati insurance. Not a bargain basement insurance company but the policy has nice coverage. Their Capstone Auto Endorsement provides replacement cost coverage - if the vehicle was bought new - for the first three years of ownership. I think some...

I agree the rear part of the power train has damage - one half shaft was ripped out of the differential. I'd guess the front part - engine and transmission - are ok, but that's just a guess.

Thanks for the reference! I prefer the prior front end but actually like the giant screen, so I could go either way. But getting a new one for no additional out of pocket is too good to pass up, so that's what I will try to do.

Interesting! I had a 6MT with mid level sky cool gray seats, PDR, sunroof, parking package, graphite wheels, red brake calipers and seatbelts. No extra carbon fiber. It came from a dealer lot in Lansing, so it wasn't exactly what I would have ordered. If I order, I would not get a sunroof and...

It is through Cincinnati and my agent included some sort of add-on (Capstone Auto Endorsement) that provided the extra coverage for replacement cost. Many companies will offer replacement cost as a stand alone coverage you can add, but usually it has to be added close in time to when you buy it...

Good news: the claim rep confirmed it is totaled! Better news: my insurance policy will pay replacement cost - aka the cost of a new one! Bad news: re-enter the goat rodeo.

Great point! I only remembered the SVR after I was back home in WI. I cleaned out the trunk and missed it, though I was a bit rattled - and the trunk had a whole lot of stuff in it, including my bike and a chainsaw! 🤣

Thanks for the encouragement, I sure hope it's totaled! Michigan has a strong no-fault law, so I would recover any medical from my insurance company. It's a fairly high hurdle to sue for pain and suffering there, most likely her insurer is off the hook.

PDR caught the crash - see video. I moved to the right a bit but there wasn't a whole lot of room on the shoulder. In hindsight, I might have avoided her if I hadn't braked, but my mind wasn't able to process it that way. Plus braking did reduce our kinetic energy significantly. Not sure the...

Friday afternoon outside Traverse City MI on a 45 mph two lane road a little red Hyundai went straight when the road curved and crossed into my lane. She clipped the rear end of the minivan in front of me and plowed into the drivers side rear door of my car. Apparently no serious injuries to...

Absolute Dearth of All-Season Tires for CT5-V Blackwing

The stock size rears are not available for any all season tire! Fronts yes, rears no. If you must have OEM sizes, then you will not have All Seasons. Your choice then is to either park the car for the winter or pick a different car. That's the reality. If you want to drive the car in cold...

Of course you will want to use your zip code, but that's mostly about installers.

    New Mats

I agree! They came with my car and I had low expectations- but after looking at the weathertechs and using mine I would also recommend them.

Absolute Dearth of All-Season Tires for CT5-V Blackwing

100%. According to Tire Rack, there are 7 brands with all seasons in this size combination. I went with the Continental Extremecontact DWS 06 Plus and have been pleased with them for colder weather. I still prefer the original equipment tires for summertime though. I had a 2019 GT350 and it had...

    Spring Mountain Impressions

I'm flying to Vegas tomorrow to go to the session this Friday and Saturday (2/21-2/22). Really looking forward to it. Anyone else here going?

Upcoming 11 hr drive in 5BW through cold and some rain. Thoughts?

FWIW, I'm running Contis DWS 06+ all seasons and they work well. Cushy compared to the stock summer tires, though obviously not as sharp handling. Stock size (275/35) in front and 285/35 in back. The rear tires are a bit stretched on the OEM rims, but it looks OK.

Upcoming 11 hr drive in 5BW through cold and some rain. Thoughts?

You should be fine as long as you take it easy and leave the nannies on. I drove my 5BW in the dry and rain in the 30s this fall and it was no problem, but I didn't push it hard, especially before the tires warmed up. I use one of the tiles on the dash screen to monitor the tire pressures to see...
