If your BW is street-only and you’re looking to cut down on brake dust, the Carbotech 1521 pads are a great option. I’ve been running them on my 5BW for about a month and a half, and brake dust is down by roughly 80%. The pads even come slotted for the wear sensors.

If you do only occasional tracking and don’t run race tires then the DS2500 are the right pad for you. I cannot speak to the brake dust compared to stock CT4 pads as I have a CT5 with the carbon ceramic rotors. But on my GT350 the brake dust seemed similar to other pads.

CT5-V Track prep - Steel Brake cooling parts

All of the 5BWs had CCBs when I went in January.

There's not much recent discussion on this topic, so I thought I'd revive this old thread. The conversation was mostly about ceramic pads on iron rotors, but there was some discussion about carbon ceramic brakes. Here's my opinion based on everything I've been able to learn so far. I haven't...

    CT4-V Brake Question

I’d love to know. Just referencing what Sam from KNS told me. He said only the 1521’s have the cutout and for the other pads, customers usually just tie the brake sensor out of the way we’re basically his words

Have you done brake pads yet? Go with a full race on front(non-street) and an aggressive street pad for the back. They make a big difference when trying to push back your braking points. Supposedly your not supposed to use race pads on the street, but I'm finding them to be fine for daily...

    Steel Brake Rotor Life

...me a full rotor/pad replacement for about $600 in labor, excluding parts costs. I actually have already purchased all of the rotors and brake pads, but I am debating whether it is all really needed right now, especially the rotor. Pads are probably needed, but I'm not sure what I should do...

    Low dust brake pads

Thanks but already did that and don't see any specific answers or recommendations.

    Low dust brake pads

I put Carbotech 1521s on my 5BW back in May. These pads have reduced the brake dust by 80%. Don't put them on if you track or plan to track your BW. They're for street use only.

Thanks for sharing. I like how you mentioned that the Ferodo DS2500 is good for both street driving and is fair for the track, as that’s what I’m going for. Now, I wonder if it has less or more brake dust than the OEM ones?

CT4-V Any experience replacing rotors and pads?

I did, the pad sensors just went off, rotors look fine but I'll be checking the thickness. I tend to brake super gradually.

I’m leaning towards the DS2500 since you’ve previously mentioned that it’s a great pad for both street and track use. As Super Saloon mentioned above, I’ll just ceramic coat my wheels so the brake dust comes off easier. That’ll solve worries with brake dust.

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

    CarboTech 1521?

Thanks for sharing. Wow! 80% less brake dust…that’s a big difference. Now I’m debating on whether I should get the Ferodo DS2500 (for street and track use) or the Carbotech 1521 (for significantly less brake dust). Have you or anyone else used the Carbotech 1521 on the track?

    CCB pad changes

FWIW the c8z rotors do NOT have a friction layer, but blackwings do. The friction layer should cause them to last 2-3x as long all other things being equal. The new zr1x brake system uses the coating and GM stated in testing the pads laste 5x as long as c8z.

...zero problems. I followed GM oil change recommendations for engine, trans, and diff. I had zero issues. Mind you I consumed 6 sets of brake pads, 12 bottles of SRF, and 10 sets of Goodyear 3Rs. I plan to do it all again in a BW. THANKS GM for selling me such another awesome car for...

...for heavy track use as it’s designed to handle the heat generated during aggressive driving. So, even if you decide to go with ceramic brake pads and use OEM iron rotors, you’re still at a disadvantage simply because ceramic pads have much lower heat tolerance than semi-metallic pads, thus...

I know the car doesn't have any temp sensors in the brakes and uses an algorithm to approximate it. If you're not tracking the car, I assume its a non-issue. If you do run the car hard at the track, changing the pad compound might make the calculations done by the braking module incorrect...
