Spoke with KNS about the Ferodo DS2500. We'll see what happens. If I go with those, how does the brake wear sensor work? Or does that only work with the OEM pads? Not really familiar with brakes in any way shape or form :/
what brakepads are you using?
for my iron rotors, ChatGPT suggested Hawk DTC-60 (front HB667G.622 and rear HB665G.577), but the retailers don't think they fit the CT5vBW
i just intend to install them for track days, so i'm not worried about dust, but don't want to accelerate the wear of the...
Thanks for info
New front pads and rotors installed. Wasn’t too bad of a job. Worst part was the brake sensor, the connector behind the wheel well liner was awful!
Wonder if these have the same issue as newer Civic Type-R/Integra Type-S the stability control on those uses brakes excessively. They wear through rear pads entirely too fast.
Test drove a CT4 BW with 20k miles. It had warped rotors. Seeing more premature brake wear threads on the forum but...
You needed to properly bed the pads and you didn’t, so deposits built up unevenly that causes the vibration when you brake. You don’t baby brakes when you bed them. You get to speed and apply the brakes hard from 70 or so to 20, then let off but do not stop. Do it again and again and increase...
Are they compatible both ways? Exactly the same dimensions and either can fit any model year 5BW with CCB?
Anyone have any pad life estimates with CCB not doing track days?
Nice! Yeah it’s crazy how filthy my wheels get from daily driving it from all the brake dust. Definitely might go with the Ceramic Brakepads because of that. Now I’m debating whether to stick with iron rotors or switching to carbon ceramic rotors. Thanks again for your inputs.
...asking this question cause I consider myself a car guy and should know an answer to probably a simple car question.
I’ll be needing new brakepads and rotors soon - can anyone please tell me if I need special rotors to run ceramic brakepads? Or will stock rotors be fine? Also was wondering...
I first looked at replacement pads for tracking to address the concern of potential brake fad. Then I learned what they are really about. It's the increase stopping power that makes them needed by those that are driving hard on the track.
Late reply here. As I understood it, the 5BW's at the Cadillac V-Performance Academy were bone-stock, steel-rotor models, and they ran all day long without brake cooling issues. Only adjustments they make there is much shorter duration service intervals, whether oil, brakes, or rubber. Now...
Wondering if there are opinions on the DBA SP-SD Street Performance BrakePads. I'm sure anybody searching has seen them on the kns website for dirt cheap. I'm just looking for something that for the 51 weeks a year will stop the car, and have a lot less dust. 95% of this car's life are...
Appreciate the insight.
Brake dust is not a huge concern for me, but since this was mentioned, how much greater is the brake dust buildup after the bedding procedure is completed? As I understand it, carbon ceramics produce less brake dust under the same usage circumstances as steel rotor...
The CCB do not dust on the street but there is a decent layer of brake dust on the wheels after a track day.
My first couple of track days, I left the front tire deflectors on. They need to be removed to help with cooling the brakes. No other cooling modifications needed for the 5BW CCB on...
big thumbs up for the Ferodo DS2500. The GT350 has those as stock pads. Fantastic dual use pads good street manners and holds up very well on track even on a heavy car. Brake dust is same as other similar pads.
I've tried the ferodo DS 2500 and they're really good because I used them as my track brakepads back in the day on my Scion FRS which is now known as the Toyota gr86 or Subaru BRZ.
...I’m seeing commercials about brake rotors and pads from them lately. Now after looking at Amazon (during Prime Day), Amazon started selling them.
I’m curious to know if anybody has ever used their break parts whether rotors and or brakepads. We all now how infamous the brake dust is on our...
I've written long posts about this topic on here and the Corvette Forum since GM started using CCM brakes on the Corvette ZR1 during the C6 era. The burnishing process is to help season the pads, for lack of a better phrase. The seasoning is to prepare them for being VeryHot(tm). Hotter than...
