2025 Surround Vision Recorder switched to USB?

GM has a great (and surprisingly inexpensive) camera system for their cars. The 360 view is outstanding. I also use the side camera view to avoid scraping on the side of my somewhat narrow garage opening.

Did you do or are doing V academy

My son and I will also be there July 5 - 6. I would have preferred spring or fall, but fitting it into my son’s schedule was more important. We’re coming from Phoenix, so the weather will be familiar to us.

CT4-V Open exhaust valves without burbles/pops?

GM put a lot of time and attention to get those burbles. Fast forward to 11:56 in this Savage geese review of the Escalade V to see the ultimate in burble tuning.

Has anyone owned both 4vBW and 5vBW?

I think Jason Cammisa got it right in his Haggerty Icons video on the 5BW. The 4BW is a better car, but it has wrong engine. If the 4BW had a naturally aspirated V8, we’d all be singing its praises as the sweet spot of performance & handling & price & fun. But it doesn’t, so we don’t.

    Silver State Classic Challenge

You are disqualified if you go above the maximum tech speed for your class (unless you are racing in the unlimited class). For the Touring class, the maximum is 124 mph. Flagrantly exceeding that could get you banned from future races.

    Silver State Classic Challenge

I share you concern. Consider: Everyone stays in the town of Ely, NV for the race and associated events. The actual road course is from Lund, NV to Hiko, NV and is 90 miles long (this will take 49:04 minutes at 110 mph). The distance from Ely to Lund is 37 miles. So the round trip mileage...

Does A Radar Detector Help Anymore?

Radar detectors are still very useful. Police use radar in many different ways, and radar detectors are effective against many of them. Here are a few scenarios for RADAR: 1) General enforcement -- the police here aren't really interested in catching the lone wolf super speeder, they just want...

    Silver State Classic Challenge

A few weeks ago, I learned of the Silver State Classic Challenge, which is an open road rally that takes place on a 90 mile stretch of Nevada Highway 318. The road is closed by Nevada police for the day for the race. Of course, the Silver State Classic Challenge has been run since 1988. An...

Phoenix AZ Is Revving Up With More Blackwing Owners

I took delivery of a 2025 CT5-V Blackwing (86-223, Deep Space Metallic) a couple of weeks ago in Phoenix, AZ. The car was built the 2nd week of December 2024. I had originally ordered a 2024 model, but got rolled over to 2025 -- which I didn't mind, as I like the new dash layout of the 2025 (I...

    Radar Detector

Radar detector detectors aren’t a thing anymore. The company that made them went out of business several years ago and existing units in the field have been dwindling as they break.

    The German Tank Problem

The calculation can be done separately for the 81- and 86- series. Now, that means the maximum serial number needs to be determined separately for 81- and 86- series.

    The German Tank Problem

During the World War II, the Allies used statistics to get very good estimates of German tank production. The Germans put sequential serial numbers on their tanks -- some of those tanks would be captured in battle, and allied intelligence would record the serial numbers found. Given the number...
