A thought - pony up now and do the Blackwing course then if / when you decide to go back ask about upgrading to one of their advanced driving courses - I had that convo with them a few years ago as an option, basically they would give me a credit of $X for the other course and I'd pay the...

    Paint protection ‘25 BW5

Where I'm at, DFW, we have a LOT of all types of PPF shops, from the chain/franchise shops (Tint World, a buddy owns one of those), independents, etc...the guy I use (Pro-Tech Mobile #1 Car Paint Protection Film & Clear Bra Installer in NTX | Pro-Tect Mobile) uses a bunch of different films...

Truckee - my advice is to talk to your trusted local installer(s) and see what they recommend, how the material holds up, ease of replacement, etc. You'll find that the folks that have been doing this for awhile have a favorite material (or two) depending on the application.

    Track Day Tires

Other considerations: slicks are going to put MUCH more stress on all of your components. Maybe you've addressed this, maybe the OEM components are up to the task / repeated track abuse with slicks? I don't know, but something to keep an eye on for failure points, stress cracks, loosening, etc...

    Paint protection ‘25 BW5

I treat my PPF just like my paint...it gets a nice coat of ceramic. No stains on my PPF. Maybe it's the brand / type of PPF that can have stains? Not sure.

    Track Day Tires

For consideration: one of our local (DFW, TX) track groups is a stickler on this: no slicks for low-time / low run group level drivers. Their rationale? Learn to maximize street tires, get used to how they feel. You may be God's gift to the track and may already be at that limit, not criticizing...

PPF has been a FANTASTIC thing for me. There is now "self-healing" PPF - scratches in the PPF? Leave it outside / the heat / sun does it's thing. Pretty cool stuff. Based on what I've seen, the "stealer" (I mean dealer) is going to keystone (double) the PPF price. If you're plugged into the...

Did you do or are doing V academy

FWIW - I *love* Alpinestar gloves, especially the older ones - that they discontinued, I still like and have quite a few pair of the new ones (well, the V2, not the V4 LOL), for reference (and yes, gloves are a consumable too LOL!)...

They’re actually pretty comfortable to wear. Just oddly heavy, to me. I remember buying my first pair of walking shoes years back and they felt the same way. I was on the same flight as a guy I’d raced with and I noticed he was wearing a pair of Pilotis. Figured they were worth a shot. Mine look...

Try a pair of racing shoes and expect to be blown away then! Seriously! Only reason I've kept these is that they look pretty nice and they are my "Cigars n Racecars" hanging out and smoking cigar shoes...you know, the ones that don't make it in the house because of the lovely cigar smell!

Signed up for the May 29-30th class. Wife and I are going to hit St. George / Zion National Park afterwards for a few days. Seems like a fun place! Signed up for an auto but waitlisted for a manual, either way, no biggie. Should be a blast! BTW - I'm reminded of this as I'm wearing "Driving...

Does A Radar Detector Help Anymore?

Google Maps has the "Police activity ahead" warning along with other traffic / hazard warnings. That was nice to have this past weekend, road tripped to San Antonio from DFW. We were just south of Ft Worth and I got lit up by FWPD, said he paced me at 84 in a 70 - my radar did not go off...he...

Call them and get put on the list - that's the best way. Take a look at the shown dates and see what works best for you. You'll get a day's heads-up about the email coming out with the new list and the time - so be ready to act QUICK!

    Spring Mountain Impressions

I will say that I've had at least two (if not three) Corvette schools at Spring Mtn that I have *not* done - meaning, I bought the cars, qualified, but did not do the schools. I was racing pretty much every available weekend at the time. I looked at the cost / time to go out there versus w2w and...

    Spring Mountain Impressions

You get one year from purchase date. If it's longer then ask the Spring Mountain folks to intercede. But do not dawdle around. It's not like you can just call them up and get a class next week...the schedule is beyond full! I was on the wait list for a few weeks and I had my own list of all of...

Does A Radar Detector Help Anymore?

It does seem like it, for sure! I've been carrying since '96 or so - I can recall only receiving two citations since then with none on my record (deferred / probation etc). And I have been pulled over quite a few times! That was prior to the radar detector. I had one YEARS ago...then without one...

Does A Radar Detector Help Anymore?

I've been using an Escort 360 (I forget the exact model designation) for the past 5 years or so, have TWO of them, one for each daily, so I do think they are definitely worth it! They have saved my bacon multiple times! Google Maps has also been pretty good (like Waze) too. Using my eyes is...

My headache of not owning a garage.

Sorry to hear, OP!! We had a "small" 2 car garage then the wife got tired of her "beater" vette (a Grand Sport LOL) sitting outside while my Z06 and Ducati were inside...she said "I want at least a THREE car garage!!" So, off she went...a week later we put an offer on our current place...right...
