    Cadillac V-Club

I've been a member for a couple of years now and I think it's a good deal. The first year there was no local chapter for me, which definitely limited the activities I could participate in, but the new chapter is small and growing. Nationally, the club did five subsidized cost track days last...

    Factory carbon issues

All of GMs carbon fiber has a brownish hue. It’s the UV protectant they add to the clear coat and has been that way since the C6 ZR1. It’s one of the ways to tell OEM from aftermarket carbon fiber.

    This was weird.

It’s called indexing the windows. Basically the car needs to figure out where all the way down and all the way up are for the one touch open and close. My corvettes all did this too.

QQ: what's latest status on magnesium wheels?!?

You’re right. I must’ve accidentally changed it to KG, you can see it in the photo.

QQ: what's latest status on magnesium wheels?!?

Nope. There was a set of Mg proofs that ended up on eBay a while ago. I assume they were created for testing. I’d love a set if they were available and would hold up.

QQ: what's latest status on magnesium wheels?!?

No. I have a set and they are aluminum.

    Blackwing alignment

I’m running more rear camber, -1.9, as I recall, but I had to run the SPL rear toe links to get there. Assuming you’re confident in your front toe measurement, I’d just back out each front toe link by one or two flats on the adjuster and see where that puts you. Just make sure you adjust both...

    V-Series 20th Anniversary Merch

I’ll say I’m pretty disappointed in the umbrella, especially relative to the Porsche golf umbrella I have. It just feels very plasticky and I don’t like the reverse opening.

    Blackwing alignment

The cheapest way to check toe is with toe plates and tape measures. Longacre and some other brands make them. The downside is that you can’t measure thrust angle and could end up with the car crab walking. A string setup will let you measure thrust angle, but it can be tedious to get setup...

    Blackwing alignment

Did you measure and adjust the toe? Changing the camber will change the toe as well. Having the toe wrong will accelerate tire wear far more than camber since it will be constantly scrubbing.

    Any PDR Experts out there?

Just note that the PDR map files the Blackwing and C8 use are the same (gen 2). The C7 and Camaro are gen 1 and use a different file format for the maps.

    Blackwing alignment

Thanks. I’ve aligned mine three times now. I’m now using the CSM hub stands which are phenomenal, albeit expensive.

    Jacking up your Blackwing

Looking at the photos in the service manual and that language confirms for me that your lift pads should be next to the seam towards the centerline of the car, not under it.

    PTM question

The only difference between PTM Race 1 and Race 2 is in how much intervention you get to prevent wheel spin under acceleration. When there is sufficient traction, both provide the full power of the engine. In practice, I doubt any of us will notice the difference even on a track. In either...
