60 A breaker for a 50 A outlet seems .... not ideal. If the current does exceed 40 A, but doesn't reach 48 A (or 60 A if 100% rated breaker), the breaker won't do anything; it will let the outlet cook. Wiring would depend on the ampacity more than the type.
And if you are required to get a...
The good book (National Electric Code) says that you shouldn't load residential circuits continuously at the nominal amperage. The 80% rule is well known. Most loads are not continuous, that's why this is common practice. Naturally, EV charging doesn't fit this profile...
IF you're charging at home, and presumably have a lot of time to charge (overnight, for instance)...
AND IF it's generally easier on the batteries to charge more slowly, rather than as fast as possible like you need to do on a road trip...
AND IF the 240 V, 50 A outlet is much cheaper...
THEN...
Ironically, seeing an actual cop on the road has less impact, at least here in the Atlanta area. Two hours ago I saw a very common site around here. Red light, several cars drive right through, cop at the intersection just sits there, no action at all.
That's not my experience. Waze makes it very easy to report things. Give it a try and see for yourself. And the hard core Waze users that I know are not even remotely close to the stereotypical distracted driver. They take their driving seriously and could probably report a cop in the app by...
Electrical engineer. I design and build "the cloud." Pretty good gig nowadays, I made the right call to go in that direction in 2008, before it was obvious.
+1 to buying MTs while you can, i feel the same way. Same reason I bought a 5BW and a GRC (great car, both practical and fun). Will get to enjoy a Dark Horse when my buddy (a Ford guy) gets his. And I will also buy the new Celica if/when it comes out, only if it's not a hybrid and only if it...
I'll sometimes "remind" people about rollback in the right situation. Uphill stoplight, I'll pull forward a little too far then roll back a little, so they see it. Or maybe I just like reminding them that a car like this still comes with a manual transmission. :)
No, I'm not so slow that...
That's one of my main methods of teaching people to drive a manual transmission as well, one of the very early exercises (right after practicing "clutch and brake" without the car even running for muscle memory). With or without the "assist" of the car trying to add gas to avoid stalling...
I'm 1 for 2. Two daughters, one of whom drives a manual and one who doesn't. I taught both, but one daughter just doesn't like it. The daughter who does told me, before she knew how to drive MT (before she drove at all), that she was nervous about learning BUT she *knew* she would love it...
Definitely "and gals". One of those with a GR 86 with a manual is my daughter. Very nice shifter in the GR 86, perhaps not up the the level of a Honda or a Tremec, but very nice. The MT in my GR Corolla I would describe as "better than average" but not great, not quite as satisfying as the GR...
