I have a deeper appreciation of the CT5-V Blackwing

I'll jump in. I'm totally in love with my 5BW due to its ability to be an outstanding all-rounder. I truly have loved the 6 other cars I've owned - first car a modified Integra that finished in the top 10% overall in autocrosses regularly, followed by E39 M5, S2000, E90 M3 manual sedan, Lotus...

    Daily driver

I have 2,800 miles on my 5BW 6MT over 3.5 months as a daily driver. No complaints to speak of other than the range is pretty pitiful, oh and as mentioned the turning radius is abysmal. I only drive very locally most of the week, but 1x/wk drive 85mi round trip to the city and also drive it on...

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

And just in time for summer!

    2024 price increase(Both CT4 and CT5)

That argument is moot though since I believe even the base 5BW seats have heat/vent/massage/power. The $8,090 is on top of that base seat.

    2024 MY Cadillac CT4-V / CT5-V Blackwing - What's New!

The 5BW also looks a lot lower than mine - I have a lot more fender gap. These are probably all just CGI anyway.

    Personalized license plate

I thought about getting the same, or SIXSIX8.

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

Yeah I haven't had trouble either, though have only tried it on 2-3. I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought it would, sounds awesome and results in a very quick and smooth shift.

First 1000 mile impressions with the CT5V Blackwing.

I had ACC in my '20 Civic Type R (all manuals) and VW had it on even the last-gen GTI manual. But they made ~48,000 CTRs, plus manual Si's and non-Rs, so I understand it being more worthwhile to invest the engineering dollars into those cars than for a few thousand Blackwings. On the CTR, the...

What "don't" you like about your BW"?

And have an option for an audible warning! Those little lights 5 feet away on the passenger side aren't enough to really help me.

    Gas Mileage

I'm getting 16.4mpg lifetime at 2,000 miles in my manual 5BW. About an even mix city/highway. Basically the same as my E39 M5 and E90 M3 - not bad considering it is heavier than both and has more than twice the torque of the M3.

    Manual trans owners--both 4 and 5

In fairness, it's red Alcantara! (Owned a '20 CTR prior to the 5BW) Also dare I say it... The 5BW's shifter is even better than the CTR's.

Anyone switch from a V8 AMG to a CT5 Blackwing?

Very well put. Even here in the SF Bay Area, I have only ever seen ONE other 5BW whereas I'll see a new M5 or E63 every week. Most people don't know what the hell a Blackwing is, but if 1) they're a true car nut, or 2) they hear the thing, they freak out and know it's something truly special. I...

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

Talked to some knowledgeable folks and your explanation does make sense, and makes me feel a lot better. Since our BWs have a wet sump, as long as the oil pickup remained covered in oil (no extreme g forces), it should be fine so long as pressure didn't drop to a very low level (or oil temp very...

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

What's interesting is I drove the 16mi home over 25min (mostly highway) and the car didn't give me a warning about oil level (and as I mentioned, I was keeping a loose eye on oil temp which seemed normal, and nothing about the pressure caught my eye though I wasn't specifically looking at it)...

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

Interesting perspective - seems to sort of make sense but I'm not an expert on oil systems. Is this really the case? I will say I loosely keep an eye on oil temps in general (so I take it easy until it reaches a good temp) and didn't notice anything different on the way home yesterday. I have...

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

Most definitely will for the rest of my ICE-driving life. It's a complicated job you know, putting the same number of quarts that it says on the sheet and (actually, "or"!) checking the dipstick. WTF. It's only a $100k car. Just talked to the service advisor and I'm trying to get them to cover...

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

Who the hell knows. The repair order even shows 10 quarts and 9 used... obviously that means nothing. The worst part is even here in the middle of the SF Bay Area, this is the closest (still 25min drive) and best-rated dealer. I guess I'm gonna have to go back to crawling under my new 6-figure...

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

Welp, the tech added 3.5 quarts (to the 1 quart I added last night) to get it up to full. So they must have literally used the normal CT5-V non-Blackwing amount (5-6 quarts). I am absolutely livid, worried, fill in the blank.

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

Haha, well I added a quart last night and there are no leaks on my garage floor.

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

So the repair order says the job is for 10 qts and that they used 9. But as I mentioned, I added a full quart and waited overnight and it's still not even reaching the dipstick. Maybe the tech didn't/couldn't count. The tech should be at my house momentarily. If he only has to add a quart or...
