One of the reasons I hate states with front plate law -- so ugly! There's gotta be a better way to display the plate & be in accordance with the law. Speaking of which -- where's the front plate on your "friend"? They are risking a "fix it" ticket!
If the app stops working, the only method I know of is to remove the device. Depending on level of mechanical know-how, it's a 20-30 minute procedure including disconnecting the battery.
I keep the removable dongle hidden in the car in the event my phone dies or is lost/stolen. This way, I...
I have the Soler in my 5BW & C8 Stingray. It connects to the phone via BT so you do not need wi-fi. Need to start the car to "wake up" the BT in the vehicle to connect to the app/phone. However, when you park, you can turn off the vehicle & the BT will stay connected for a couple of minutes to...
The Solar BT Throttle isn't very easy to remove. In order to remove it to make the vehicle driveable afterwards, the battery has to first be disconnected. Then there are many steps after that.
But you are right, any thief looking to steal a vehicle will be able to do it if they have enough time...
I installed the Soler BT Throttle Controller on both my 5BW & C8 Corvette. Not only does it allow for customization of the throttle but it works as an anti-theft device. You can disable the throttle via their app on your phone such that the vehicle can be started & idle but pressing the throttle...
From that angle, we have similarly spec'ed Stingray HTC -- same exterior colors (with the black mirrors, nacelles & roof) & low wing. I thought about getting matching color w/my 5BW like you did but ultimately decided against it.
I've always named my vehicles as I believe every car has its own idiosyncrasies & therefore, a "soul" of sorts. The ones currently in the stable:
2022 Genesis GV80 - "Genny" (for obvious reasons)
2023 Chevy Stingray Vette - "Rapide" (she's pretty quick!)
2016 Subbie Forester - "Gump" (movie...
I have something similar that I use on "lessor" vehicles in my stable. I had posted one of these on a prior thread about theft deterrence & got flamed for it being an inferior product & not to be trusted on a high-end vehicle like a 4/5BW.
Hope the filter seal from the prior filter isn't still left on. They sometimes stick & if not noticed, the new filter gets placed over it & it will leak. Also, as you did not make mention, is the oil level still to spec on the dipstick?
Even if they worked, deal killer for me bc from their website:
"Do not take your vehicle through an automatic car wash with this product installed unless it is a touchless car wash."
I put on >20k miles/yr on my 5BW and take it thru a car wash at least weekly to keep her semi-clean.
Thanks but they seem to be only for the CT5-V. GM sells a similar item & it only fits the CT5-V & not the BW. Concerned it might be the same for the ones you linked. They are also for the front.
Sorry, but I should have clarified in my original post that I'm looking for options for the rear.
Anyone find any that look decent & woork well? WIth the tire setup I have, the tire sticks out more than OEM & I'm concerned about getting the paint/fender behind the wheel.
