What made you choose a Blackwing and what else did you consider?

Caddy wasn't even on my original wish list. I was driving a 2002 WRX modded to about 350hp, but some teenager T-boned me a year ago and I had to get something ASAP. I was originally wanting a Golf R or Audi RS3 -- I am in Boston and drive to the icy mountains a lot -- but they were unobtainable...

    CT4-V Transporting bikes within.

Good tips. I can fit my road bike in the back with the seats down with just the front wheel off, but want a bit more flexibility. Am trying to decide between the Seasucker and a trunk rack -- looking also at the Saris Bones, which can be had for $120 on sale. Not sure if I'd need the Bones EX to...

    CT4-V Transporting bikes within.

Interesting, I had been intrigued when I saw the Seasucker on the Caddy accessory site, but it said it was not compatible with the 4BW… Of course now that I look at the Seasucker site, it says it’s compatible with everything….

    Spring Mountain Impressions

Note I just let Gina know a moment ago that I can't make it to our Sept 28-29 session. So they will have two 4VBW slots opening up now, one for a 6MT and one automatic (I am bringing my wife). Contact your rep there ASAP if you want those slots!

    4BW General Questions Thread

I'm new to this car, but that seems optimistic to me. I've never had a set of Max Perf tires last more than ~12K miles (granted, those probably all had at least one track day on them), and with Michelin max Perf tires it's been even less. The way this car brings out the hooligan in me, I feel...

    Door Alignment - Adjustable?

I do have a variety of fitment issues and inconsistent gaps. The only one that's flaring my OCD is the passenger front door seems like you describe -- it's almost like it's not fully closed, but only by a few millimeters. My paint definitely has some orange-peel effect in various areas. I did a...

    Spring Mountain Impressions

There's a good chance I'm going to have to give up my Sept 28-29 slots. I have two slots reserved, both for 4VBW, one manual and one auto. If anyone wants to swap their sweltering and greasy-tire August reservations for my pleasant and grippy Sept slots, I'm all ears -- maybe the SM ladies will...

    window tinting quotes

I got a quote for Xpel XR ceramic for $450 in Boston burbs, excluding front windshield (presumably for XR Black, not the highest tier film). I had another quote for >$1000 for a top-tier ceramic film, which I believe included the front windshield, but i didn't bother to pursue it. Doing my own...

    4BW General Questions Thread

Sorry, senior moment. Im thinking of the rental I had while waiting for my BW. (The only time a Malibu was ever mistaken for a BW.) Ignore me, nothing to see here....

    4BW General Questions Thread

This was discussed in another thread on the Driving Academy, where it was explained that the persistent Rev match mode feature is apparently patented by another company. So GM can't do it. Or so "they" say....

    2024 MY Cadillac CT4-V / CT5-V Blackwing - What's New!

Magnesium is fundamentally brittle and corrodes easily, though you can engineer around that to some extent. When I bought mag wheels for my racing motorcycle years ago, they recommended getting them xrayed before every season to check for cracks (I don't know anyone who actually did that, tho)...

CT4-V 4BW OEM brake pad life

[Pardon the threadjack, but...] Anybody trying aftermarket pads, for DD or track? I'd be curious how that impacts the brake-by-wire system. Not sure I'd want to be the guinea pig for that...

I think they match your VIN, but I would call to be safe.

    Spring Mountain Impressions

There were 7-8 seats in my session at 9am when I got on the phone with Gina, and they all were gone by noon. (I took two of them.) Gotta love BW owners!

    Winter Wheels and Tires

This setup worked very well for me in the end…. No issues with the mismatched tires whatsoever. I was able to drive through a handful of New England storms (which almost always involve a combo of snow, sleet, rain and ice) with no problems, including a long drive through NH where the highways...

    Spring Mountain Impressions

EDIT - D’oh, Gina just sent me the new dates this morn — I missed the prior posts from Friday. Thankfully I was able to sign up for Sept 28-29, along with the wife (who will also drive). July was tempting from a vaca perspective, but having lived in AZ and done track days in 105/110 degree...

How many of you with a 4BW or a 5BW actually took one for a test drive before buying?

I test drove an automatic 4VBW at a local Boston dealer -- there are a bunch of automatics on lots in the area. Then found a stick w/ a minimal option package (seats/sunroof) coming into a dealer in Hartford so put a deposit on that.

Dealers That Are Not Charging Above MSRP

I just picked up my 4vbw w/ manual trans yesterday for slightly BELOW MSRP from Valenti Cadillac in Hartford (only options were the microfiber seats and a sunroof). The original agreement was for MSRP, but they dropped the price so I would finance through them (5.39% vs 4.99% offered by my...

    Winter Wheels and Tires

Yeah, it's basically choosing the least-bad scenario to get me through the winter for now. Hopefully can find a better scenario when supply shortages ease. I did the same thing with my current car, a 350-hp WRX (now totalled thanks to a teenager, hence the new 4bw), where I had to toss an...
