If it makes you feel better, I was a special case. They wouldn't even think about it except I had talked to them a lot about my manual driving history already, and I'd put an order that was in transit. They knew I understood break in periods and had a ton of experience driving manuals. The Mrs...
A couple of videos I've watched suggest pouring an extra quart of oil through the engine once you've drained it to flush out as much old oil as possible, so that might help while using the ramps. It's probably overkill to some extent, but I'll probably do it because I plan on having this car for...
Coming from a Subaru Forester (had to sell my WRX in '20 when I moved to the city), the LF4 is going to be a wild ride for me. I'll have a smidge of V8 envy, and maybe down the road I'll buy a used 5BW to add to the collection.
I'd be curious to hear from someone who has driven both hard how the 5BW corners vs the 4BW. I've been unconsciously assuming the 4BW was more elegance and the 5BW was more beast.
This is ultimately why I chose to order. I could probably negotiate a price down to the mid $70's, but that's nearly $9K over the price I'm getting for the '25 that I ordered with the things I actually care about.
Hilariously I think it's actually easier to find deals on the '24 5BW vs. the '24 4BW right now. There just aren't many manual 4's on the market that aren't the grossly overpriced special versions or the $90K optioned cars (if my budget were that high I'd just spend a bit extra to get the 5BW)...
Car is listed as "in transit" by the chatbot. To this point have not received a note from my dealership yet, and I don't see it listed online anywhere quite yet.
For what it’s worth, I finally got to test drive the manual yesterday as the dealer I go to had one come in. Holy shit.
Last month or so of waiting is going to be killer.
