    Engine Failure

13 on the tracker across all model years. It's not really a scientific sample just whoever posts about it here, plus the one from Car&Driver. For context a rough google search shows 1,763 CT5V Blackwings were produced in MY2022 and there are 4 MY2022 failures on the tracker.

    Engine Failure

Powertrain gets a 6-year/70,000-mile warranty but beyond that I would absolutely be looking at extended warranty or holding aside $30K to self-insure the engine. Based on the tracker I've been running here it does seem like the failure manifests early for most engines so you might be better off...

Noob-ish question on 5BW Oil Consumption

Ugh, the S85 is not a promising bar to clear :ROFLMAO: Thank goodness this car is just so much fun to drive

Noob-ish question on 5BW Oil Consumption

It's weird, my garage surface is quite level and I've taken oil measurements there before. This morning I took another measurement and it looks like there's a very small amount of oil about midway up the crosshatch now (i.e. it's thin, like there's not much there). Go figure. My V2 Wagon had...

Noob-ish question on 5BW Oil Consumption

I've got a 5BW with about 20,000 miles on it. All 20,000 miles were put on by me (well except for the delivery mileage). No problems to-date with the engine (knock on wood). No sign of excessive oil consumption until now. Yesterday, I went a long, spirited backroad drive, came home and parked...

    CT4-V CT4VBW vs. Porsche 911 (991 Carrera S) - Am I making a mistake?

I owned a 991.1 Carrera S (with the ducktail) and I traded it after a year and a half of owning it. I've driven a 4BW at Spring Mountain and own a 5BW and a 991.2 now... so FWIW 1. The shifter is going to be much better in the Blackwing - the 7spd in the 991.1 is probably Porsche's low point...

Is this a decent price for this car?

I think (hope) that values over the long term will look a bit better. It looks like Cadillac are making as many as they can sell, and will keep doing so for the foreseeable ... so that blows a lot of speculators out of the water. Honestly though, I think I would rather that than something like...

Is this a decent price for this car?

If you dig into the vehicle report there's an accident involving a tow with 'unknown' severity and a Lien reported, so... buyer beware?

EV Thoughts Thread: cause the old farts did their usual thing

I'm not exactly what you'd call an EV enthusiast having only ever test driven the original Tesla Roadster when it came out, and a Lucid Air GT. I tried the Lucid because of Jason Cammisa's reviews, the fact that the CEO is an ex Lotus engineer, and having seen them testing at Thunderhill...

    Cargo organizer

You are 100% correct. I have the exact same item, except it has a Porsche logo on it and it cost 50% more than the Cadillac one. You might notice it's strange that it doesn't fit the whole width of the trunk. That's because it precisely fits in the frunk of a modern 911. They probably all come...

    Media dumps

Back on the subject of 'Media' mentions of the Blackwing ... The latest 'Smoking Tire' podcast has a review of the MC20 GT2 Stradale mid-engined supercar, and they went off on a tangent about how that car's review drive was ruined for them because they drove a CT5-V Blackwing to it -- which was...

    Blackwings and Watches

Ressence Type 3 is one of the few watches that could conceivably require an oil change... it even has an oil temp gauge. Mega watch. Mine's the entry-level Type 1s, no oil changes required :ROFLMAO:

    Blackwings and Watches

Yup, it's not a cheap hobby. Well, maybe cheap compared to getting really into DE's and racing ... if you start digging into the details about movements, finishing, etc. it's all over

    Blackwings and Watches

If I'm parking in a 20minute green zone, I'll use my chronograph or dive bezel to time it because it's less of a hassle than futzing through all the screens in my phone. I have yet to find a realistic use for the Tachymeter scale as there are much better solutions for on-track data and timing...

    Blackwings and Watches

Panerai's reputation has been up and down lately, with a "scandal" (overblown) about Panerai's P.9200 movement being labeled as "In House" in the early 2020s and the Luminor Due betraying the brand heritage by being a little 38mm watch with minimal WR. In my opinion, Panerai still has one of...

Absolute Dearth of All-Season Tires for CT5-V Blackwing

100% - it's odd that GM didn't work with a tiremaker for OEM fit A/S or Winters. Presumably because the famous GM bean counters decided the cost/benefit didn't pan out. I am not a tiremaker so I don't know if it would be a really expensive undertaking? I live in California so in theory this...

Absolute Dearth of All-Season Tires for CT5-V Blackwing

I can feel the OP's frustration a bit - the idea behind a Super Sedan is that it can be the 'one car that does it all'; daily driver, back road barnstormer and track day toy. Certainly, that's the M5's MO. If you have to get a winter beater or daily driver to go with your Blackwing, why not...
