    For your amusement

Huh, I can have text messages read to me and I can respond to them via voice w/Android Auto.

What "don't" you like about your BW"?

I'm so glad it has a ton of cameras because it truly is a major pain. I've even had to make a 3-point turn to turn around in a cul-de-sac!

Have you heard a BW in the wild?

I've always been into high-revving N/A engines (owned 9,000rpm S2000, 8,400rpm E90 M3, 8,500rpm Elise) and didn't grow up loving American V8 muscle, but the BW is so angry and has a lot of character and bravado. Best-sounded car I've owned even after modding others.

Have you heard a BW in the wild?

I purposely left mine in the loudest mode when I took it for the dealer oil change. It was abundantly clear when my vehicle's service began and concluded.

What made you choose a Blackwing and what else did you consider?

Mine never left me stranded and never had an electrical problem. But it was just constant little things to fix and preventatively fix, stuff you shouldn't have to think twice about before 100k miles. I only took mine from 66k to 95k but it had more problems in that time than all my other cars...

Do you actually use the HUD?

It's always on but I almost never use it. Just feels unnatural to me - like I'm not expecting digital information with the "analog" stuff going on through the windshield. I do like the shift lights in the HUD though!

    PSA: I have car OCD.

5BW is my 7th car in 23 years of driving, and my first new car. I buy cars I really like, and never want to miss winding up in a car I like less. I plan to keep the 5BW and my Lotus Elise for a very long time as I can't think of a better pair within budget for what I like. As far as cars I...

    Blackwing Constraints Tracker

Yep you're correct. I like it more and more.

Engine Break In - 500 mi or 1500 mi

Agree. They're the ones paying for warranty claims and with a reputation on the line. If they say to break it in, I'm not going to second guess that.

    What did you trade?

As someone who had his heart set on an E63 Wagon before the Blackwing came out, this is good to hear.

    What did you trade?

Well put. It's like when people talk about what a performance value the Corvette is, but in the next breath say the interior isn't great. You can't have everything (and have it be less expensive than rivals). Some people want the best driving car they can get, and don't necessarily need or want...

What "don't" you like about your BW"?

I noticed that too - they're simply not synchonized. Doesn't bother me. I also noticed yesterday that if you put the hazards on, at some point they stop ticking inside the car. Kind of nice for those periods when you have to sit and wait with the hazards on.

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

I had that problem, but after a week or two of using it, it just sort of "clicked" in my brain and it wasn't a problem at all after. It's funny, I got back from driving a rental car for a week on vacation and in the first couple glances at the camera mirror I got that same feeling again, but...

    2024 MY Cadillac CT4-V / CT5-V Blackwing - What's New!

Just like a 911's gauges then!
  16. W

    What did you trade?

2020 Civic Type R. I actually got it in November 2021 as a placeholder while waiting for '18+ E63S Wagon prices to cool back off... but then was sold on the 5BW and ordered one literally 3-4 weeks later. It took 14 months to arrive so I got 8,500 miles on the CTR. Great car but 5BW is on another...

I want to buy a car, please sir, may I have another?

It can depend on the road and speed. I have a high degree of confidence that while MRC dampers are downright magic in most situations, the BW still requires some hefty swaybars at this level of performance. So on low-speed (like crawling through city traffic and parking lots) uneven pavement you...

    Media dumps

In the newest print version of C&D they have a mileage tracker on each of their long-term vehicles and looks like they have hit 45,000 on their 5BW (normally they only go to ~40k, they must not want to give it back) so a summary report should be imminent.

I want to buy a car, please sir, may I have another?

If that savagegeese video made you want one, the second half of this follow-up video they did will make you REALLY want one.
