Also depends on the soap used. I tend to see that SiO2 infused soap unless you use waaaaaay too much product just doesn't produce thick foam like some other soaps do. I tend to, if the paint is relatively clean and it's just a maintenance wash, use an SiO2 soap (like pictured in my post above)...

The way I interpret the cross hatch aeras is that they are your upper and lower "limits" of oil. As in if your oil falls in either cross hatch area, (high or low) that it is OK but on the verge/limit of being too high or too low. And the non-hatch areas are (normal).
