    Proximity Locking Questions

Given that car key frequencies can be grabbed out of the air by bad actors, I've never been a fan of pushing the button on the remote to lock/unlock. What I've always used on my other cars is the proximity function of having the key in my pocket when next to the car, and grabbing the handle...

Is it ok to park with engine on for a while?

Bear in mind that extended idling also takes a toll on the engine oil, but is not necessarily reflected in the oil life indicator (which I think is mostly tied to miles driven). You may want to change your oil more frequently if you're doing a lot of idling. This is a real issue with fleet...

    2025 PDR recording overwrite function

256GB card holds about 2 months of driving for me. I have the "auto overwrite" feature turned on. But when the card is full, it will not overwrite the existing files and stops recording. Is this a 2025 bug?

So, who keeps track of the used car market prices?

As an owner of an RS6 and 5BW, I can say they each have their place. RS6 is my choice for a long interstate road trip, with the potential for traffic, as my 5BW is a manual and doesn’t have any of the auto pilot features (or two pedals) the the Audi has. RS6, being a wagon, can really haul...

Did you do or are doing V academy

That ship may have sailed, they opened up Oct dates last month. Slots, especially for 6MT 5BW, fill really fast.

    2026 allocation

I’d venture the say that the goat rodeo may actually begin as soon as one decides to buy a BW. As we can all attest, even attempting to place the initial order is a wild ride.

CT5-V Manual 25 Blackwing no blindspot monitoring. Why

I have the mirror camera, and after 1000 miles of forcing myself to acclimate to it, I just couldn’t do it. My eyes couldn’t focus fast enough to really pick up far detail, and I am always scanning for police-type vehicles in rearward traffic given my speed addiction on the highway. And I...

CT5-V Manual 25 Blackwing no blindspot monitoring. Why

Passenger side is fine, mostly because it has a wide angle aspherical mirror. Driver side is the issue. It moves all the way, same as the passenger side, but it’s not a wide angle mirror and leaves a tiny (but big enough) blind spot.

CT5-V Manual 25 Blackwing no blindspot monitoring. Why

Lol, one of my other vehicles is an F450, and you can't miss a thing with those side view mirrors, all angles are covered, and the wide-angle tow mirror inspired me to put a similar one on this car. I will admit that I once almost missed a car crossing in front of me with my F450, because of...

CT5-V Manual 25 Blackwing no blindspot monitoring. Why

As an owner of vintage cars that don't have this feature, I adjust when driving them. The fact that I still looked over my shoulder, knowing that I couldn't rely on this feature in my BW, and I also had the mirrors angled fully outwards, and still missed a car in my blind spot, was the last...

CT5-V Manual 25 Blackwing no blindspot monitoring. Why

Ok, I officially couldn't cope with this lacking feature anymore and broke down and added a blind spot mirror to the driver side. Official Old Man spec. Even with the mirrors angled fully outwards, I could still lose a car on the driver side, and almost ran into one on the freeway, even after...

Order bank open date 2025 CT5V BW?

While I definitely believe the current generation of 5BW will be the last, given the well publicized move to all EV by the Cadillac brand, I think it will be 2027. They just did a facelift and need to see ROI on the tooling investment, and that typically takes at least 3 years in the car...

Order bank open date 2025 CT5V BW?

PDR looks to be standard for '26, too, according to the online configurator.

Order bank open date 2025 CT5V BW?

Indeed, and already proven to be pure wrong speculation. 2026 MY for 5BW is also live on Cadillac's own website.

CT5-V What don't you like about your CT5-V Blackwing?

I agree about that with heel/toe driving, but I love manually rev matching even when downshifting without braking. It’s like constant practice to see how perfectly I can nail it.

CT5-V What don't you like about your CT5-V Blackwing?

(Sooo… if I may say: manually rev matching, to me, is an integral part of the manual driving experience. Total engagement!)

CT5-V What don't you like about your CT5-V Blackwing?

I hope so, but going all electric for the fleet will kind of make that “driver focused” branding useless. I’m a huge F1 fan but will never be an EV driver, so I’m not quite sure who they are marketing to with that combo… Yet that’s exactly what the C8 was designed to do: shatter that...

What were your must have options?

Yeah, Porsche is an example, but the carbon backs are part of a completely different seat structure, so it’s more function than just form. Despite the few ounces of weight savings (which definitely undisputedly of course no doubt will help with lap times 😀), the BW shells are just cosmetic...

CT5-V What don't you like about your CT5-V Blackwing?

Oh, and I didn’t realize it before, but there are a couple other car manufacturers out there that seem to be offering the same exact color. I’ve been sitting in traffic at a light and looked to my right and said to myself: that Subaru Outback is the same exact color as my hot shit $130k 670hp...

CT5-V What don't you like about your CT5-V Blackwing?

I always envisioned Drift would be just a part of the final version of the car, after I lowered it and put some bronze colored aftermarket wheels on it. As it sits now, stock including the polished silver wheels, the color isn’t amazing, it’s very tame, more baby blue than anything. But...
