Same happened to me. Drove around with them for weeks wondering why the front suspension on my brand new car was squeaking when it rained. A quick peek under the fender had a bright yellow transportation block wedged in the springs on both sides.
That said, I was one of the original 250, so...
Yeah. This.
Don't get me wrong, I'm super happy @Terrance Sig is part of this community and he's doing amazing stuff for our cars, but it takes some very complex CFD (computational fluid dynamics) analysis to really measure this.
Is it *likely* more downforce because of the greater surface...
That's awesome. I love in-process photos to see what goes in to making these things.
Would love to see this of your wheel house too if you ever get a chance!
A company used to make something like this for my old Infiniti to auto turn off the traction control with an automatic button press on startup. (KP Technologies was the name, I think.) I don't think they're in business anymore but the device was so stupid simple I can't imagine it wouldn't work...
In my 4BW, my instructor ran a 1:20.1, which I'm sure could have been faster if he wanted to.
That said, I'm still pretty happy that I managed to pull off a 1:20.6. The 5BW times ranged from ~1:17 for the fast guys to, well... significantly higher for those with no track experience.
I'm curious... roughly what sort of gains could be expected with just the ECU flash and a tune? (Without any additional hardware)
Now that the number of variables that can be tuned has widened considerably, surely there must be more on tap, right?
The brakes are substantially heavier than the non-BW car. The bigger wheel/tire package probably doesn't help either.
Also don't forget the added cooling capacity (extra radiators) for the BW too. Oh and the eLSD. And beefier transmission.
Honestly, I'm kinda surprised it *only* weighs...
+1 to this. Emphatically.
I took @pkincy 's advice and put on a set of the Powerstop pads and have been very happy with them. The 80% dust reduction he's talking about is legit. Maybe even more if you aren't super aggressively braking all over the place. Night and day difference over stock.
I removed and reinstalled mine and used 3M auto body tape and it's held up for two years in the South Carolina heat and still going strong.

I would double check the "cleaned it off really well" claim. The OEM stuff is nasty-level sticky and took me hours to clean off...
Are there any DIY ceramic coating products that are off the shelf from the auto parts store that are worth anything?
I'll have the wheels off of my 4BW this weekend and I was going to give them a thorough clean and then ceramic coat them to help make all this infuriating brake dust easier to...
