Order new part from dealer or other vendor?

I have ordered OEM parts from https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/ and Genuine OEM GM Parts and Accessories Online - GM Parts Giant. What you have to watch out for when ordering OEM parts online is shipping cost. Most of the good online vendors will provide the option to check shipping cost before...

    Patch this tire or replace?

I had a 2013 Camaro ZL1 the got a nail in one of the rear Goodyear Super Car 2 tires. Discount Tire patched and plug the hole. Only way they would patch the tire. Drove on the tire two years without any issues.

    Patch this tire or replace?

To be absolutely safe I would plug it and then patch from the inside. If the plug ever worked its way out, the patch is there for backup.

General Advice for First Time 5BW Owners

Congrats on the new ride. As others have said, follow the manufacturer’s break in. Not only will this break in the engine and diff it will also help you get use to the car and what it is capable of doing. It’s a damn fast car for its size so keep it under 4000 rpm until you reached the end of...

    CT4-V 4BW to C8, tempted

I love how Corvette owners are convinced it’s a small percentage of C8s with transmission issues. My own C8 had zero transmission issues for the first two years of ownership. I even drove it twice from Florida to Ohio. But during year three and after 13,000 miles the transmission decided to...

CT5-V Manual 25 Blackwing no blindspot monitoring. Why

Looks like I’m keeping my ‘23 M6 5BW forever. With limited range of motion with my neck, I rely on the blindspot sensors constantly. I find them to be as accurate as the blindspot sensors were in my ‘17 ZL1. Where they are not very accurate is my C8 SR.

    CT4-V 4BW to C8, tempted

To the OP of this thread. Be aware that there are some significant reliability issues with C8s regarding the transmission. I can vouch for that with my C8. This was just posted on the Corvette Forum. This person is having his second C8 buyback in 2 months due to transmission issues. The...

    CT4-V 4BW to C8, tempted

Being able to see the engine is a bit over-hyped in my opinion. Lets face it, GM doesn’t put a lot of effort into making their engine bays look fancy. I owned three 5th gen Camaro convertibles that required manually putting on the tonneau cover when the top went down. Getting caught in the...

    CT4-V 4BW to C8, tempted

Yes, all my experience is with a C8 Stingray HTC. I admit I’ve never driven a C8 Z06. On paper, my biggest concern with the C8Z is that you’ll rarely take advantage of the high revs of the LT6 in normal street driving. As a torque junky, the low torque numbers of the LT6 especially in the...

    New Lyriq-V review

I have to admit the styling is rather bad-ass. At almost 6000 pounds you better budget for tires. I imagine this sucker will eat them up pretty quick.

    CT4-V 4BW to C8, tempted

The only thing the C8 Stingray has over the BW is the mid-engine design. It does make for superior handling. Otherwise I think the car is way over hyped. I seriously considered trading my Stingray for an Eray but after experiencing transmission issues I'm over that. For now I'm keeping the...

    CT4-V 4BW to C8, tempted

I too have a M6 5BW and a ‘21 C8 HTC. My C8 is a non-Z51 with performance exhaust, mag ride shocks, front lift, GT2 seats and two-tone adrenaline red interior. I have a little over 13,000 miles on my C8 and I have driven it from Florida to Ohio twice so I have some good seat time in the car...

    Rear view mirror adjustment

I bought my 2023 M6 5BW used. My biggest disappointment with car (real world problem for sure 😎) is it doesn’t have the rearview camera mirror. It has stage 1 & 2 CF, upgraded seats, PDR, Sunroof, red seat belts, upgraded wheels but no rearview camera mirror. I was surprised to find it wasn’t a...

    Blackwing Option Rarity Estimates?

I guess I should feel fortunate my 2023 M6 5BW has both CF packages. It was an early January 2023 build which I bought used last May.

    Brutal Winter Car

All of you complaining about road salt obviously haven’t lived on the coast. The salt in the air is far worse than any road salt. You can avoid road salt by parking your car until the salt is washed off the road. No way to avoid salt air unless you store your car in some hermetically sealed...

CT5-V Anyone else had the Infotainment not boot up on engine start?

Had this happen on my wife’s 2019 Blazer. Blank infotainment screen and no phones paired. Left the driver’s side door open for 20 minutes which basically does the same thing as disconnecting the battery. It resets all the car’s electronics. Everything came back to normal operation afterwards.

    Z06 guys are lucky

I still see posts from C8 Z06 owners with transmission issues over on the Corvette forum so things aren’t totally peachy and keen with the DCT in the Z06. I seriously considered trading my Stingray for an ERay but after picking up my M6 5BW I lost all interest in an ERay. Then after having...

    CT5-V I’m Back! Picked Up A 2025 MT CT5V BW

Congrats on the car. A black car when clean is sexy as hell. The challenge is keeping it clean for longer than 15 minutes. I like the design of the bronze OEM wheels. I just wish they were a shade or two more bronze.

    Z06 guys are lucky

I’ve never driven a C8 Z06. However, it still has the same crappy DCT that’s in my C8 Stingray. Plus if you’re a torque junky like myself, you may find the lack of low-end torque disappointing, especially for street use. I think people forget the C8 Z06 is the “track focused” model of the C8...

    Z06 guys are lucky

Having owned a 6th gen ZL1, the Alpha 2 chassis is a noticeable improvement over the Alpha, in my experience. However, the biggest difference in ride quality between the two comes from the 4th gen Mag Shock on the 5BW. Faster software and accelerometers instead of ride-height sensors makes a...
