So, does this work in conjunction with the onboard entertainment or does it replace the native options (including CarPlay/Android Auto)? In other words, if I hit the 'home' button on the dash, do I get the regular options or do I have to unplug this device for that? Thx!

Not sure I understand? Waze just works with either CarPlay or AndroidAuto projection from your phone.
