Gimme a break. We got people here who can’t figure out how to change their transmission fluid and others who think they’re world macroeconomics experts. Nobody believes anything they say. The more they say, the more their credibility sinks. Just wasted bytes on the server.

The keyboard economists strike again. Everyone’s opinion has some value, but here the value is sinking faster than a Venezuelan bolívar.

Looks to me like GM is just milking this car in the final years. I see the 5BW with MSRP of $150K and can’t believe anyone would think this car is worth that. My MY22 is very well outfitted for $100K. To me that’s about the most these cars are worth paying.

    Blackwings and Watches

I used the wrong word maybe. I’m generally not making any money. I guess I would call it serial dating. I wear it for a couple years until something else seems more appealing. The Daytona has no appeal to me, would not pursue one either.

I guess I flip watches like a lot of people flip cars around here. Why not, in many ways much less trouble than cars and much less depreciation. Rolex makes good watches, the movements aren’t pretty hence why no glass case back. They do perform well, are tough, and good resell money. The ones...

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

Tire sealant should be a last resort, too many bad consequences (likely trash the TPMS). Some shops won’t work on tires with sealant. Better to over pressure the tire and/or take a portable tire inflator along.

Maybe that explains why I’m not married?

It was my first choice color and probably pretty rare combo with no sunroof, CCBs, CF seats, and 6M. I feel lucky indeed.

Probably the most written about, photographed, and copied iconic watch. I’m not a Rolex fanboy, but think every serious collector has one. So another photo to add to the millions already on the interwebs.

The answer to that is self evident if you knew my dealer. The lower the complexity of the job the less competent the worker. Nobody touches my car if I can do the job myself. I’m the only one that cares more than anyone else about the quality of work and doing it properly.

Good point. I’m focused on my own tips that are as they should be.

    Blackwings and Watches

I haven’t found many watches I wanted to keep after a couple years. Watches look great in photos and videos but the reality is until a person wears it for a while they won’t know if they like it. The one I’ve had the longest and have no plans to sell is a Glashütte SeaQ. That is my everyday...

Those are very easy to get with hardly any mark-up. I sold my Sub no date on eBay last year, easily 9.5 condition as I hardly wore it. They are very Plain Jane IMO. If you insist on getting one I would get the date, breaks up the monotony of the watch. I also have an Explorer 2 white dial that I...

I buy and sell. I think of it as renting the watch. It’s a hobby and a watch is the only jewelry I wear everyday.

One of the best inexpensive watches is a Longines Spirit. The Longines Spirit is arguably the best bang for the buck. But it may not be your style. I would say ~$5K is the low end for a good quality watch. Plenty of resources, some I like. https://m.youtube.com/@ID-Guy...

I’ve paired down my “expensive” watches. Which I consider in the $5K to $25K zone for me. Some people consider $50K or more expensive. There are a good amount of watches of very high quality in the $10K zone. Essentials I consider are a dive watch, chronograph, and a GMT. After that it’s all gravy.
