I am the OP for this thread. Coming back to it after a few months of experimenting and I think what I actually have been perceiving the e-diff "Working", not TC/stabilitrak. Considering I get the same feeling and behavior even with TC and stabillitrak completely turned off, I think it's the...
Totally agree with this. I’ve ruined too many cars lol with my “improvements”. Also, i am floored by the capability in both performance and comfort of the alpha 2 chassis. I am kind of shocked that anyone would think it needs improvement!
When I cross shopped the 4 BW vs F80 M3 one of the things I loved about the BW was the “wolf in sheep’s clothing” effect. I love that the 4 flys a bit under the radar. Wouldn’t have it any other way!
I just did mine after 1500 miles. Dirty dirty black fluid with a bit of sheen. Ill probably do it again around 10k miles because its so easy and then probably every 30k.
So glad we actually have a drain plug!
I recently got an alignment where i kind of split the difference between stock and track: -2deg up front and -1.5 rear with total toe in 0.1 deg both front and rear. Make a significant improvement in turn in as expected and doesnt seem to increase wandering or tramlining at all that i can tell
Thanks for your reply. Educate me - why does the diff have shearing forces but the tranny does not?
Interestingly enough, I had not looked at the severe operating considering section of the owner's manual and it does specify a 45K mile change (same as the diff) for the 6MT, which I suppose is...
Yea, totally agree. that was kind of my point. Trying to get a bit sideways is certainly not the fastest way around a track, so i am definitely "doing something wrong" (on purpose!).
That's kind of my point - this car is about going fast around a track, not going sideways around a track!
Yea, I get it. Looking at the previous replies - with my 335, if i "short press" the traction control button one time, the BMW goes into Dynamic Traction Control, which is a really nice mode to be in. It allows the "right amount" of stupid - and the when the intervention happens is very natural...
Note that Cmode is not included in the table. PTM is configurable for Vmode in my car for sure. Look at the bottom right setting. 1 V button tap gets you your Vmode. 2 V mode taps gets yoy Vmode+plus PTM settings.
Also, its silly to think that there are only 5 parameters affecting driving...
So, i have Vmode on full send except engine sound which is middle (the overrun burbles on track engine sound are a bit silly IMHO) and i have my Vmode PTM now in “race 1”. You mention track, but it seems track is not a PTM setting, but rather a drive mode.
I did find a few other threads where...
Lovely little forum muscles. I’ve read the manual literally cover to cover. I’ve re read the PTM and drive mode sections several times. What you describe is literally exactly what I have been doing, specially with PTM set to sport and also race 1- the reason for the post is that in that...
Good to know. I’ll try it and see how it feels. That said, I am still confused in that I point that was the point of the configurable VMode. If i set everything to “high” and PTM to sport, how is that different feom track mode? Its just that a double tap of the V button is way easier than...
Thanks. I've looked through the link, the OM, and various threads.
I was hoping that Vmode would do it since it just an easier routine on start up. So, if I have my Vmode with PTM on Race 1, that shouldn't allow me any yaw moment or wheel slip? That seems crazy and hard to believe. What is the...
Hi All,
Relatively new CT4 BW owner. Coming from BMW world (other car is a highly modified 335).
I LOVE the Blackwing. I was cross shopping vs a G80 M3 and the cross shopping lasted as long as my first test drive of the BW. This is DRIVERS car and I am enfatuated.
That's the good part.
I am...
i would strongly guess this diagnostic step is just to check clutch disengagement. If the clutch is not disengaging while running, you won't be able to get the car in gear. but when everything is stopped you could (albeit with some effort).
I think this is the answer. Synchros are schronizers, and they are synchronizing input shaft and output shaft speeds. If the car is not on, neither shaft is spinning, so the synchros are not spinning and hence may or may not be will aligned in each gear.
honestly, if the car goes into gear...
