Stock or aftermarket 4BW pads and rotors?

If you've never worked on anything it may take you a bit to figure everything out, but it's not super difficult. You shouldn't have to bleed the brakes if you are doing pads and rotors. Only if you're replacing calipers or changing brake fluid. There's a couple vids on YouTube that go over...

    Brake squeal fixes….

My 4 didn't and my 5 doesn't make any noise. You don't hear people on here complaining about it, so I'd say something isn't right. I wonder if they are using the wrong pads/parts? Have you checled the E brake? I'd keep complaining to the dealer, who will probably say that's normal, which I would...

Long term reliability of the 5BW LT4 unmodified

Pretty simple really? I have seen many of fleet GM 1500's get 150-180k plus with original brake pads. It's called driving and lots of it!

Potential new CT4-V Blackwing owner, things to note on delivery?

I'm assuming brake linings means brake pads and not the lining in brake fluid hoses.

...and I was curious to know myself so thanks for asking. I did a quick search and I found out that if you're going to install ceramic brake pads then you will need to make sure that the cast iron rotors are in good condition. It doesn't hurt to get a full ceramic brake pad kit and I've...

I just did this! Its a lot of work. but I'd never tried jacking up the car before. That took awhile to figure out :-/ I wish I'd seen this video prior to selecting Gtechniq C5. We'll see how it holds up.

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

Ceramic coated my Tech Bronze when I swapped them out and put em up in storage for future use. They came out fantastic, better than new. When I did the swap out, I also coated my Signature SV302S and those just came out next level nice, like a mirror! Right out of the box to ceramic coat and...

Long term reliability of the 5BW LT4 unmodified

I buy them at RockAuto, typically a lot less and install myself (I don't know of a dealer that will use parts they didn't order even if it's in the same OEM boxes.)

    Brake squeal fixes….

Yea I knew that part but you would think they would have come up w some other fix by now. 2 SS sedans, 2 6th gen Camaros, a C7, a CT5V, an ATS V and only one of those cars had break squeal and when they swapped the pads it was gone. This is terrible and the car only has 15k miles on it. They...

I am a huge Ferodo fan. Not just of the DS2500 but also the DS1.11 and the DSUNO. Those are the 2 other compounds I have tried on the GT350. If you want to go a bit more aggressive on the compound, the DS1.11 are great. Better wear on the track and way less brake dust. No free lunches though...

Brake Pad Question - Street Use

I have them on my 5 bw. I'm satisfied with way less dust and the stopping is pretty damn good. I ran powerstops on my camaros and when I had a 4bw. I'm my opion the DBA pads stop way better than the powestops. I purchased another set of the DBA pads after I installed the first set due to the...

    CT4-V Brake ducts install

It will help increase the life of the pads and rotors. I actually did my very first event with the car totally stock (no track alignment, no brake ducts), and while the car still performed quite well, it was starting to chew through the tires and brakes faster than I would have liked/expected. I...

CT4-V Girodisc brake job + general maintenance at 61K miles

...noticed you only did the front brakes. How were the rear? I, along with 122 other BW owners nation wide are waiting on rear brembo brake pads. They are backlogged apparently. I've been without my BW since nov.18th due to no rear brake pads available. I thought I could do an end around on the...

    Anyone done this color combo?

When I'm in the driveway washing my bronze wheels I have to hose the concrete down after from all the brake dust. In the spring I plan to swap pads when I'm swapping to summer wheels.

New CT5-V Blackwing Owner - First thoughts and impressions

Welcome to the club! RE Track: You only need to change the brake fluid. The OEM brake pads are up to track abuse. Unlike many other "performance" vehicles, the 5BW is track-ready straight out of the box (except the brake fluid). I've had mine twice at Carolina Motorsports Park (eats brake pads)...

    Anyone done this color combo?

I noticed that also. When just giving my BW a regular washing, there is a ton of black brake dust on the concrete , even though the wheels appeared clean. I put power stop rotors and brakes on my Challenger and its a huge difference in less brake dust. I need to see if they make pads to fit...

Wow, that’s impressive then. I agree, the OE ones are great all around brakes. Just don’t like the brake dust. Hats off to Cadillac for developing great OE brakes, especially the CCB as an option on the 5BW. Wonder if the Ferodo DS2500 are any better than the OE ones in terms of brake dust...

New CT5-V Blackwing Owner - First thoughts and impressions

Eh, I'm not looking to find out at 140mph. Brake fade on street pads sucks. It's a very steep drop off. I'll also probably drain half the coolant and fill with distilled water and water wetter or something.
