I just ordered a set of fronts TPC from Costco. Online it shows as out of stock , but if you go to the tier center they can order it (Costco # 1519051)
The max G under braking is not just the pad...it's more the max grip of your tiers before ABS is detecting wheel lock. Yes, stock pads are pretty good and give you a good street driving and safe track use for beginners on track / advance drives (at the cost of very short life).
The point of...
Girodisc is working with an additional tester to resolve the issues we were facing.
In the meantime, I've purchased OE rotors from Rockauto. Original OE GM number was changed.
New numbers are:
86783048
86783049
Paid $1115 delivered + tax
I did not experience any difficulties installing the rear pads. Yes, as warmed in advance the pads are short a few mm compared to stock. I guess another way to skin this cat is getting Carbotec/Gloc 12 pads for the rear with the ZL1 side
A few race mechanics warned me that the unique viscosity of SRF might cause over triggering of the ABS. Mainly in modern BMWs. I personally never had issues with other cars.
SRF is a great fluid. I use if for my track BMW E36. However, it can cause issues with modern ABS systems. Most people don’t see any issues.
I use Brembo LFC 600 as it was the fluid that was tested during the development of the Blackwing. It will not hold for a full year like the SRF.
Pad for 4BW is:
Front: DP81853.15SR11
Rear: DP83023.15SR11
I used KNS Brakes for the rear pads. just use in the configuration 2019 Cadillac ATS-V
Importante note: The rear pads listed above (same as ATS-V / Camaro / Corvette C7) fit the 4BW caliper. However, it's not an exact match as I believe...
I was able to drive them in the street without any issues. They stop from cold. Clearly you will get better modulation for DD if you use the stock pads. I cannot tell if DD these track pads will shorten the rotor life.
Although the manufacturer recommends to use these track pads with a new /...
Several years ago, I’ve posted here about the Magic Pads (part 1) at the Camaro6 forum which were one of my favorite track pads for my 6Gen Camaro – Raybestos ST43. A lot have changed since then and Raybestos started to disappear from the track market. This review is based on the CT4 Blackwing...
Update - after installing 1718 rear track pads, I noticed that stock pad size is larger (depth). I have a feeling the 4BW uses the ZL1 rear pad size (not confirmed, but for sure the pads are different). The 1718 worked on the track, but you can see 5mm of the inner rotor ring not being used.
So…I’m getting ready for a weekend at VIR. This time, I wanted to follow the 4BW owners manual and perform a track alignment. The owners manual direct you to punch some pins on the strut tower to achieve max camber ( see attached pic). To my surprise this procedure doesn’t really do anything...
I purchased this one on Amazon. Came with a seal.
