I will be listing my 2009 CTS-V on Bring a Trailer soon. Original owner, 106,000 miles.

    Blackwings in Forza Horizon 5

Oh, for a throw back drive the 1996 Impala. I remember as a kid thinking it was so awesome. And those "huge" 255 rear tires.

    Blackwings in Forza Horizon 5

I don't have a BW so I can't compare. But in the game I pretty much only drive 4000lb+ uber sedans (including the V3). I don't feel like Forza models them correctly. It's not a simulator after all. I assume they have some model they plug various numbers into for all cars. But no model specific...

    Blackwings in Forza Horizon 5

Its a 3 race championship. You earn points for each one. So you don't necessarily need to win every race. I'm not sure how consistent a "driver" the computer cars are. I know in Gran Turismo 5 the same computer cars would rarely finish in the same order...so you could win most series by just...

    Blackwings in Forza Horizon 5

I am in the middle of that one. Did you win it? Finishing is not enough. I also did a couple of events on the far right of the list and they only gave me 1 point each even though they said 2 or 3. Not sure what that's all about.

    Blackwings in Forza Horizon 5

Forgot to ask, do you actually get the car or just put on a waitlist with no allocation in sight;)

    Blackwings in Forza Horizon 5

I'm slogging through trying to earn it. I was trying the big 10-point event but by the time I was getting good all my random teammates started sucking worse than me. I think mine said I had a few more days to earn. Maybe the timer starts once you start the game after the event was available...

    Factory Service Manual Online

I'm afraid of knock-offs too. Especially if I'm trying to code a security module.

    Factory Service Manual Online

https://gmtoolsandequipment.com/en-US/Pages/ItemDetail.aspx?SKU=EL-52100-AM That website was linked from the AC delco one above..even though it looks a little sketchy.

    Factory Service Manual Online

The AC Delco dongle is $750. Not sure I will bother. If I was getting another GM car or knew I wasn't going to sell the V it would be worth it. If I keep the V I will fix it and with the part/dongle/software it is still cheaper than the ridiculous price the dealer quoted for the job.

    Factory Service Manual Online

Did I read that right that you can also get Tech II software on the PC? So I could fix my broken trunk release and reprogram the security module? Looks like I would get that and SPS2 to actually do the programming. And the correct dongle.

    Jack Lift Points Damaged

Right you need special software. But if you have it things are doable. That said the places they decided you need a software actuation are sometimes ridiculous. Like BMW and their battery coding. And now even for a brake fluid flush. Maybe the better way to say it is modern cars require a new...

    Jack Lift Points Damaged

Why does everyone say that cars are more complex so you can't DIY? Yes there are more computers, but no one at the dealer debugs firmware or writes a software patch or makes a metal layer fix to an IC. They rip the module out and put a new one in. If anything the electronics make finding a...

    2024 Refresh for CT5 BW?

That was my attitude after getting my 2009 CTS-V...I basically stopped caring about new cars until around 2019 when my wife got her new car. I was happy with my car (and still am) and not worried about new updates or tweaks. When the 3rd gen V came out I wasn't interested because it was an auto...

    2024 Refresh for CT5 BW?

I'm pretty sure GM has never upped HP unless it was an all-new model. The one exception was the Z06 2 decades ago with the LS6 but that was because they weren't ready with emissions @400hp in time for the release (there was some interview with a powertrain engineer about why that happened...

CT4-V BW - LOW OIL PRESSURE - METAL IN OIL

I had the courage to do a no-lift shift in my 09 V a couple times at VIR from 2-3 and 3-4. After that session I thought to myself that if I had missed those shifts it would have been bad. Chickened out every time after that.

CT5-V What don't you like about your CT5-V Blackwing?

Stabbing the throttle is a terrible habit I learned in my 1st car...a 2000 Cadillac STS...as a FWD V8 with 300hp/295lb-ft and a 4 speed slush-box that was a fun way to drive it. When I got my 04 V, that habit handed me my ass 4 hours after I drove off the lot. I was young and dumb. Fortunately...

CT4-V Blackwing Manual Transmission Engine Revving

My 2009 M6 V does this sometimes as well. I know I read text in the service manual how it holds revs in neutral to burn off various pollutants at certain RPMs/loads/etc. I wonder if its something related to that? The 09 doesn't have rev match so it obviously isn't related to that in my case. It...

    Winter Wheels and Tires

While I don't have a BW, the difference between the Pilot Sport 4 and Pilot Sport A/S3+ on my 2009 CTS-V is substantial. With the A/S3+ 1st gear (manual transmission) is unusable past 1/2 throttle without spinning the tires. Braking action is similar, but when you want to take a hard turn and...

Dealers That Are Not Charging Above MSRP

I'm on the list at Hendrick but pretty far down. I bought my 04 V from them with an ADM (and much regret but I was young and dumb and they were run very differently back then). In Dec/08 they were jerks again when I tried to order the 09 V. But now they seem so much better to work with (new...
