Very well put. Even here in the SF Bay Area, I have only ever seen ONE other 5BW whereas I'll see a new M5 or E63 every week. Most people don't know what the hell a Blackwing is, but if 1) they're a true car nut, or 2) they hear the thing, they freak out and know it's something truly special.
I...
Talked to some knowledgeable folks and your explanation does make sense, and makes me feel a lot better. Since our BWs have a wet sump, as long as the oil pickup remained covered in oil (no extreme g forces), it should be fine so long as pressure didn't drop to a very low level (or oil temp very...
What's interesting is I drove the 16mi home over 25min (mostly highway) and the car didn't give me a warning about oil level (and as I mentioned, I was keeping a loose eye on oil temp which seemed normal, and nothing about the pressure caught my eye though I wasn't specifically looking at it)...
Interesting perspective - seems to sort of make sense but I'm not an expert on oil systems. Is this really the case?
I will say I loosely keep an eye on oil temps in general (so I take it easy until it reaches a good temp) and didn't notice anything different on the way home yesterday. I have...
Most definitely will for the rest of my ICE-driving life. It's a complicated job you know, putting the same number of quarts that it says on the sheet and (actually, "or"!) checking the dipstick. WTF. It's only a $100k car.
Just talked to the service advisor and I'm trying to get them to cover...
Who the hell knows. The repair order even shows 10 quarts and 9 used... obviously that means nothing.
The worst part is even here in the middle of the SF Bay Area, this is the closest (still 25min drive) and best-rated dealer. I guess I'm gonna have to go back to crawling under my new 6-figure...
Welp, the tech added 3.5 quarts (to the 1 quart I added last night) to get it up to full. So they must have literally used the normal CT5-V non-Blackwing amount (5-6 quarts).
I am absolutely livid, worried, fill in the blank.
So the repair order says the job is for 10 qts and that they used 9. But as I mentioned, I added a full quart and waited overnight and it's still not even reaching the dipstick. Maybe the tech didn't/couldn't count.
The tech should be at my house momentarily. If he only has to add a quart or...
Even after adding a quart and waiting overnight, it STILL isn't even showing on the dipstick and instrument cluster confirms low oil. Dealer is sending a tech to my house.
I'm freaking out that I drove 20 miles with the oil more than a quart low, probably more like 2 quarts if not worse?! Will...
Hey, my dealer had Fruity Pebbles and Froot Loops breakfast bars on offer this afternoon! (For those following another thread, this is the same dealer asking $202k for a 5BW Anniversary).
Did first oil change at 1,6xx miles. Service advisor said I should wait for the car to tell me to do so.
Also they had a loaded 5BW Anniversary in the showroom asking... $202k!!! $50k ADM. So stupid.
I think it's been shared that Miles of MilesPerHr bought a 5BW, his first new car. I just saw his Instagram post about why he bought it and it is... very flattering!
Frankly this car gets the same or slightly better mpg vs. my old 2011 M3 with a 414hp, 295lb/ft 4.0L N/A V8 pushing 3,600lbs. Seems fine for what it is. Easy to get over 20 on the highway, even mid-20s which was never possible with the M3 which hummed along at 2,800rpm at 70mph.
